P.S. I do with all respect say though that if Black lives matters really wants to make a difference how about making scholarships for black students, or how about walking the hoods, and encouraging people to do better things. This nonsense of blocking traffic and acting like a bunch of thugs is not helping matters at all it just pisses people of more. I think black lives matter needs to change their attitude and do positive things would make more sense to me but what do I know.
It is SO healthy, and fun, to have friends of other "persuasions" that you can joke openly with, with no chance of being misunderstood, or hurt.
I work and golf with a couple of black guys, one is my boss.... and whenever one of them complains about something, I always say, "well, it's because you're BLACK"... then, of course, they rag on me about being an old fat redneck...
I mean, good grief.... we should be able to have fun, and poke fun, at our friends, without worrying about "what will they THINK if I say that?" of course, we don't get vulgar, or trashy... the "n" word is never used, etc.... but, heck.... we're all just FOLKS, fer cryin in a bucket...

That must be a refreshing way to get a perspective on people. Nice that you have that opportunity.
My own views about racism are highly skewed because I have very little experience overall in my life to draw my opinions from, so I know I'm not well-versed in race relations. I do know that I have some questionable views of people, and many of them are based on some very superficial qualities.

One word you used here clinches it all.... "IF". Because I firmly believe they do not really care. The case is often made that 60 Black kids can be shot and killed on a given weekend...... by other Blacks..... and you won't hear a peep from them. But let a police officer shoot a Black robbery suspect on the following Monday, and all Hell breaks loose. They are just the militant arm of the present administration, charged with keeping the racial situation stirred up.

There have been some pretty good movies dealing with race lately... like "Black and White" with Kevin Costner, which I thought was excellent...
Even "Gran Torino" with Clint Eastwood... shows how an old curmudgeon really feels about "good" people, vs "bad" people, even though they are all the same ethnicity.... Hmong (sp?) I think...
And the one about the coach who moves to a Hispanic area with his family.... can't remember the name of that one offhand..
