That's what my buddy who is really into vaping told me about three years ago. I have no reason to doubt him.

Are you sure that you heard teens are drinking them or just smoking them? I know they vape, but hadn't heard of them drinking the things. Huffing was the rage in the 90s, not so popular now.

I teach middle school and knew they vaped, but hadn't heard of them drinking it. I'll have to talk to them and find out if they're into it. That's bothersome.

Come to think of it, three years is an eternity to that age group. Perhaps nobody is doing it now.

Worth checking either way.

Let me guess! English teacher!

You're right, fads come and go quickly in that age group. Wrong about the English teacher part. I teach science.

Of course I'd pick the obvious option and just assume.

My eighth grade science teacher was a real Renaissance woman come to think of it. She had a Thomas Jefferson quote positioned at the front of the classroom and a collection of books on archaeology of ancient sites in the back.

What was the quote?

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."

She truncated it to "A people cannot be both ignorant and free" for short attention spans.

I'll fess up. The font is different because I cut and pasted the original quote. My brain is not an infinite storehouse.

At least you remembered part of it. I think Jefferson was right about a nation not being able to be ignorant and free, but wrong about individual people. The freest people are the ones ignorant. Ignorance is bliss, after all. With knowledge comes sorrow and responsibility. Look at Adam and Eve.

Perhaps that is true for Adam and Eve. But what of us after The Fall? Shouldn't we be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves?

Yes, but being wise as serpents does not mean freedom. Being as wise as a serpent, yet as innocent as a dove puts a great deal of responsibility on us. It's hard to be wise and innocent, much easier to be ignorant and innocent.

Why then do you think Christ called us to strike such a balance?

(Ughhh, I swear I'm not ripping these questions from a catechism)

But who in their right mind would drink them? Tourist is right in thinking something is unstable, but I think it's more than the battery if people are drinking it to get a fix :p
They are probably drinking the flavor concentrates instead of pouring it on the cotton ball... doesn't surprise me what people do to get high... I had a friend literally grab a handful of grass weeds, roll it up into a massive blunt using notebook paper, then proceeded to smoke on it... its a shame he didn't notice half the weeds were bird feathers.. the smell was rancid.. but anyways people do dumb stuff even more so now a days.

Perhaps this is the best argument of the night for how ignorance can lead one to a certain kind of freedom. :p

Depending on how we define of freedom.

Or is it a certain kind of knowledge that led him to that state. :p

I feel so contorted.

Not really any type of knowledge, more like a lack of identity in Christ by disagreeing with the word of God. Just seeds of sin producing more after its kind... in his case a type of self destruction combined with delusion.

Being wise means responsibility and a loss of a certain type of freedom. I was actually talking about this last night with a friend. Think about children and adults. Children have no responsibility, no wisdom. So they have a certain amount of freedom that we do not have. Being wise is not about being happy. That's the point I'm trying to make, with wisdom comes responsibility and it tempers a certain type of freedom.

I don't think I'd ever have gone to the front of the class. ;)

The responsibilities of children are much less and less onerous than the responsibilities of adults. If a child doesn't clean his room, big deal. If the parents don't pay the mortgage, the child won't have a room to clean. Children have a type of wisdom, but not much worldly wisdom required for responsibility.
