To answer the OP;

If anyone tries to tell you that Jesus' and Paul's teaching are different, run, don't walk, to the nearest exit.
Run? What would Jesus do? Thats what we are given the Armor for. The Armor doesn't have any protection on backside. i see what you are saying, but we are conquerors, not cowards, victors, and not victims, through Him that strengthens us. Jesus has been the Word since the beginning, and Paul like everyone else that taught the Word was teaching Jesus.

It seems some are in favor of not studying to be found good stewards of the Word.

No one other than the Word may ad or take away from the Word............many do attempt to do this but all they add is darkeness and not light.
"Nor does His word dwell in you, for you do not believe the One He sent. You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about Me, yet you refuse to come to Me to have life." John 5:38-40

I see the remark above pasted.

Why is Jesus Christ called the Teacher, that is Rabboni?

Why is there a gift of teaching?

All too many are adding all to much to the simplicity of theWord. The Gospel and teh Epistles are for teaching after we have come to believe. The Holy Spirit was promised to open the teachings to us, explaing all things, or rather, revealing all things.

All who will not accept being taught by Jesus Christ or His emissaries will remain untaught, that is, ignorant.
There are two polar extremes, who both are intent on only quoting the half of scripture they are comfortable with. Put the two half's together and you have the whole message.
One half is all about self achievement to attain heaven, the other half say you don't have to do anything, sit back, relax it will all be done for you.

grace with responsibility is the term I like to use.

I myself can testify you can fully accept grace but the way is not always a piece of cake. Jesus said we will suffer trials, temptations and persecutions.
The christian has tough choices to make at times. And when they make the wrong choices this can have a catastrophic effect on their life.

The Apostle Paul preached grace with responsibility. He warned against making the wrong choices, and following after the flesh. But at the same time I would say he was the greatest preacher of grace this world has ever seen

Man's sole response-ability is faith. By grace through faith.

In order to keep looking to Christ and trusting him you have to deny the flesh. Yes, you will be given the strength to do this, but you still have to resist in that strength

for new believers, Yes, I think this is true,, Even for mature believers in some areas, This is true (we all have besotting sin issues)

but as a child of God matures, Most of his work is done naturally, he does not even think about it, by nature he does the will of God. He no longer has to fight the flesh in certain areas, because the flesh has been killed..

I think Jesus was the greatest grace teacher as well as the greatest law preacher.

Jesus gave the law of Moses 2.0 on steroids to those that thought they could live by the law of Moses for life and righteousness and thus expose their need for a Savior.

Jesus also gave grace to those that knew they needed a Savior and to them He gave pure grace with it's empowerments to live by Him alone.

People often say to those that speak of the grace of God and that they are not under the law of Moses anymore that they believe they are without "laws" now.

We do have laws in the New Covenant. They are exciting laws that bring life and wholeness to us all - because these are all Christ Himself in us.

There is no greater revelation than to know Him and the Father
and to plumb the depths of their love and grace towards us which Paul says in Eph. 2:7 - the Father will be doing for all the ages to come to us.

Ephesians 2:7 (NASB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP]so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Jesus fulfilled the law. The law was a mere shadow of the real thing which was Jesus.

Read the law to see Jesus in it and to know that Jesus did that for us and His life in us now leads us in all things. Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.

We now live by:

1) The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. ( Romans 8:2 )

2) The law of love ( Romans 13:10 James 2:8 )

3) The law of faith ( Romans 3:27 and the law of Moses is NOT of faith - Gal. 3:12 )

4) The law of liberty ( James 1:25 )

5) The law of Christ - which is Christ Himself in us. ( Gal. 6:2 )

We can trust the Holy Spirit in us to lead us in all affairs of life. We don't go back to the law of Moses that were a shadow of the real thing which is Christ in us.. Jesus is more then enough
.

Yes...we glory in the laws that we have in the New Covenant because they are all Christ Himself living in and through us. ( Gal.2:20 and Col. 3:3 )

Get this wrong and we create a religion which really nullifies the grace of God from operating in our lives like it was meant to.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NASB)

[SUP]22 [/SUP] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

[SUP]23 [/SUP]
gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

The third example in the parable of the sower is good. People who become believers keep getting sidetracked by worldly things. Because of this they never mature in the faith.
Jesus did not say they lost their salvation, but never matured

The flesh's goal is to try to get you to stop living by faith in Christ and to revert to your own self efforts to live the Christian life. Looking to Christ and trusting in Him is living by faith in Him, and is denying the flesh.

Below the title of the OP and my original response..............see how it has been taken away from the OP to suit someone's problem with me.

[h=2]Re: Live by Jesus teachings or Paul's?[/h].
It is understood Paul teaches the same as does Jesus Christ.

Paul may specify specific problems with specific people, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ does not cahnge.

If you are intrigued and/or entangled with any of the
particular problems addressed by Paul to varied peoples,, you
should consult Paul on these issues, but if hyou are saved, sticking
with the Gospel as provided us from Jesus Christ is all you should
rely upon.

Even Paul stresses, there is no other gospel than the Gospel provided by Jesus Christ.

You cannot keep looking to Christ and trust in him when you choose to follow the flesh. It is one or the other

So you believe it is impossible for a christian to wilfully follow after the flesh? They can never choose to do that

Well I have to admit in my own life I have at times wilfully followed after the flesh. Maybe I am just not as mature as most others. Indeed, when i was much younger I followed after the flesh in opposition to what God wanted and I suffered greatly for it.
Possibly I am unique?

All scripture needs to be filtered through the lens of the finished work of Christ. There is no conflict with Jesus in the gospels and Paul's revelation of Him - they just had different purposes and spoke to different people in different ways.
Let us be really honest here. The agenda here is to deny the sermon on the mount and
much of the revelation of Christ for a walk without obeying the Law of Christ.

Now if you hide your true beliefs, and soft peddle the struggle of the walk of reconciliation
of the heart of the believer, you end up with language of lenses.

You only need a lens to change the meaning to the "secret" understanding or "mystery" of
grace means you can continuing sinning and you are forgiven as you sin.

This has never been the gospel and would be regarded by Paul and the apostles as heresy.
I understand the tension this is trying to resolve but the answer to legalism is not ignoring
sin but talking about what love is and how you love people and why in every situation you
enter.

There is nothing "honest" in that post.

For the record, I dont believe a born again christian loses their salvation when they make the wrong choices, but they do suffer much as a result

Possibly that is an easier response than having to answer the question
It's easier than repeating the same thing all over again and having you still not engage your brain and actually think about what is being said.
