Well.

This is a good point.
About new Christians, I mean.

A lot of people go to Church on Sunday an are not really following Jesus.

I agree with Osteen, though...
Only God sees the heart.
Watch Lakewood on a regular basis and you'll see many opportunities to repent, more so than most churches I've been to in my lifetime.
Stop listening to an obsessed outsider who knows nothing of the truth that goes on inside Lakewood church.

Just finished watching the Lakewood service.
It was tremendous from start to finish with one flaw.
They made a rather large plea for money through tithing.
I've never heard them do it quite like this before.
But I wasn't going to let that ruin my experience so I brushed it off and then heard a great sermon by Joel to finish it.

The teaching of tithing will be one of the last sacred cows of the religious system to fall.

Some look at a person instead of hearing whats being said. Joel may not know what both sides of fence is like, but his show does help build faith, him sharing what we are and what we can be in the Lord. What if joel is someones only preacher they listen to or can listen to, they are hearing about God. i think joel is ok, and i really liked his dad john.

fake beauty and style and hoped for riches, will not, nor ever can, bring anyone into Jesus' Grace -
those kind of mantles can only condemn...

Gossipers and those that slander and that spread strife amongst the brethren are in the same list as those that live the homosexual lifestyle.

Many people don't like Joel Osteen and will argue about him until the day they die.
That's too bad for them.
Joel Osteen is on TV for 25 minutes every week.
But one can view "live" the Sunday morning Lakewood Church service in it's entirety every week with 2 Sunday morning live services that will replay if you miss the time.
And they generally last around 1 1/2 hours.

This church has excellent praise and worship music, mixed with altar calls and guest speakers, and finishes with what is usually a 45 minute sermon by Joel and then a big altar call at the finish, not like the one you see on his 25 minute show.

So yes, I say don't watch Joel Osteen anymore.
If you don't have a home church or are just home on any given Sunday morning, then watch the Lakewood Church service
and see why many believe the Spirit of God moves in this church and see the real reason why he has close to 50,000 members.

That's Lakewoodchurch.com
Although Joel Olsteen is encouraging, he is also a teacher of falsehood. One that mixes truth with lies. You won't find him taking a stand against evils such as homosexuality, abortion, etc. Like the Bible warns, he has itching ears and teaches what the people want to hear- what a spiritually dangerous thing! Paul did not back down on controversial topics.

At the the end of his sermons of lies mixed with truth, he does a great disservice to the souls who listen in. He supports and teaches the false doctrine that all you need to do to be saved is believe. But the biblical truth is there is only one thing that saves- and that is Christ's blood. And the way we come in contact with it is we are baptized into Christ (Romans 6:3). This is the only way the Bible says we get into Christ, and only those in Christ will be saved.

A better program is "In Search of the Lord's Way". If you don't have it on your TV station, you can stream it from the website (searchtv.org), or they will mail you a copy free of charge. You will NEVER hear them ask you for money, a love gift, or in any way guilt or bribe you into giving. The Bible says "Freely you have received (the truth), freely give (the truth)." And that is all they do, out of the simple kindness of their hearts- as it should be.

But did you do your research?
I have pretty high standards. It only takes one heretical statement from someone to convince me that he's a heretic -- I don't need to research every aspect of his doctrine.

There are plenty of really good preachers out there, so why settle for someone who makes even ONE heretical statement?

He is one of the main reasons I decided to become a chistian and accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior....

And I had never heard of him until one night, when I was desperate for some encouragement, I was flipping channels on tv and happened to catch him just as he started saying stuff that spoke right to my situation. I believe it was no accident. It was like he was speaking directly to me. That was the first time I watched him and I still watch him sometimes on youtube. I must have watched over a hundred of his sermons already. (I accepted Christ about 11 or 12 years ago)

... And he's not preaching some "prosperity gospel'. He is preaching a gospel of hope and encouragement. He wants us to know that God is bigger than our problems and that if we stay in faith He will bring us through them. That with God, anything is possible. And it doesn't matter how big your problems are, they are nothing compared to God's power.

He also preaches about being patient and staying faithful in tough times. He's not about getting rich or successful, he's about staying in faith and believing that God truly does rescue those who call upon Him..

Acts 2:21 KJV:

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Wow, he's hoodwinked you clear over in the Philippines???? He preaches a false gospel, and by supporting it, it makes you a partaker.

You (and probably tens of thousands of others) are proof positive that God used Joel to reach His lambs, and that prejudice has blinded so many ranting haters.

Is that the gospel or just the message you want to hear? Where did Jesus preach such a message?

Mr 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

When Joel was new and on TV, I had already been saved for many years.
He was so refreshing.
I went out and bought his first book and I couldn't put it down.
Tremendous stuff.
I was very encouraged, at a time when I needed encouragement.
Then people came along and said all kinds of bad things about him.
Many Christians were all too glad to jump on the band wagon and bash another Christian, especially one that made a lot of money and ran a big church.
Complaining about Joel Osteen has turned into out right hatred for him.
Why?
Because he is successful?
And you're not?
Try living your best life now and see how quickly things change for you.
And that ain't no devil talking.
They don't want you to live your best life now.
They want to keep you down and to keep bringing others with you.
That is hardly having "victory in Jesus!

Willie,

you are old enough to know better than to say that ALL' who are not on-board with
a denominational-doctrine , or creed, or statement of Faith, are an 'hater', this is heart-breaking'!

is this what is called, 'across-the-board-judgment'?

it must be a question that all of us have to ask ourselves - is perceived-conceived-hatred REAL??

for a Christian', some things just have to GO', but, we have to 'root' them out on our own and own them,
and 'OVER-COME' them, in order to be and do what our Saviour expects of us...

most of us know that 'every denomination' 'thinks' that 'they only have the truth'!

Goodnight Guys,
i would like to make a comment. i will try to be fair. Joel is very popular even here in Guyana. lots of people know of him and listen to his programme that comes over every day around 7 am over the radio. many hindus have told me personally that they listen to him. my neighbours, who are not believers, listen to him. i think he is a great motivational speaker.
i wish he would centre his speeches on Christ though. Some of the people that listen to him still dont believe in Jesus Christ after years of listening.the conviction is not there. and that is what worries me.
But i dont believe we should attack.or make fun of him. Pray for him. Remember David and Saul. Saul was anointed to lead the country. He lost the anointing and was doing his own thing. Yet David did not attack him when he had the chance. He said, How can he put his hands on the Lord's anointed?
We all have to answer to God. those on the pulpit and we too, on the pews.

I truly doubt that gospel message would be effective!
Most Christians don't understand that verse.

Did you sell everything you own to follow Him?
How do you expect a non-believer to if he's hearing that message?
