they will tell you they live in sinless perfection all the while pointing their crooked fingers at everyone else for lack of faith or their whatever and looking exactly like the heartless angry criminally minded men who nailed Jesus to the cross.

They will argue in favour of sin till the cows come home for the purpose of self justification.........Jesus said go and sin no more...God told Cain he could rule over sin, they tell you cant.......Believe God and depart from the feeble traditions of men..
This just shows you have no clue nor do you know what your talking about and like the OP points out...deceivers and liars who accuse and say that we promote sin.....good luck with that pal

You can quote this till the cows come home and IT WILL NOT change the fact and truth of the scripture I POSTED that JOHN wrote in the present tense while including himself....nor does it alleviate all of the verses in the thread such as the OP....

John was clear...again you fail to understand it is the spirit that is BORN AGAIN OF INCORRUPTABLE seed....bound in a weak body of SIN....

JESUS covers this concept....

THE spirit is indeed willing BUT THE FLESH IS WEAK

PAUL covered this...The things I say I am not going to do I DO...the things I say I am going to do I DO NOT....

SO....those who say they have NO SIN are deceived and HAVE no truth in them..........

SO....Do YOU SIN...yes or NO?
scripture out of context does actually change the truth of it to advocate against whats actually being said. Kind of Like this.

Genesis 2:16-17 "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

Genesis 3: 4-5 "
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

Partly true. it did make them as gods knowing good and evil, He just twisted the whole Death part to make it no big deal. Gotta live up to what We understand in order to walk in righteousness.

Genesis 3:22 "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever"

context changes everything, its the difference in truth, and deception. and as i said My life is between God and myself, as yours is. i just thought maybe some actual context would help. my mistake. carry on with your work.

We like to make people wonder. Wonder is the spice of life.
That is a huge statement. People have stopped wondering and don't question a thing anymore.

I will never leave you nor forsake you....You will NEVER perish......you HAVE eternal life.

And a nutcase comes on the scene and says,"He might forsake you, you might perish, you might not have eternal life." And people...CHILDREN OF GOD line up for their slaughter! It is nuts and crazy to watch. people have STOPPED thinking and wondering.

And let us also not forget that the truth is built line upon line and precept upon precept....HOW many scriptures get chunked in favor of a particular view....their must be a balance....JUST like ALL the verses I quoted buy the men in the bible who were saved, faithful, wrote under inspiration and served God yet they all CONFESSED SIN AFTER salvation....YET there are a few who still DENY this, argue against it and SAY WE promote sin.........

theres alot of context left out of this 1 scripture.

1 John 1:6-10" If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."

its about being forgiven of our sins, and cleansed from all unrighteousness.

Matthew 9:9-13

And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

10And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. 11And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? 12But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them,They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 18:9-14
And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.12I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

1 Timothy 1:15
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

We have had a few threads lately that reject the fact that as a believer we occasionally fail and sin....The bible speaks to this...the only ones who reject this for the most part are those who

a. Believe they can lose salvation
b. Believe they must do good to keep it
c. Believe they must blend faith, works and be sinless after salvation

/QUOTE]

A no one can lose salvation until the day of redemtption that is why you are to hope for it..(how can lose something that hasnt been given yet...

B i havent met any people who believe in doing good works that deny they will fall short from time to time..

C I have met sinless perfectionist who believe they will never fall short (this is the only time you are right in your A B C.

its about being forgiven of our sins, and cleansed from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:6 - If we SAY that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. Walking in darkness is descriptive of children of the devil. Walking in the light is descriptive of children of God. Only those who are saved/believers are in the light.

Acts 26:18 - to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.

2 Corinthians 6:14 - Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

Ephesians 5:8 - for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light. Children of the devil walk in darkness, not in the light. Children of God walk in the light, not in darkness. IF confirms these positions in verses 6 and 7. It's one or the other.

In 1 John 2:9, we read - He who SAYS he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. In vs. 11 - But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

*Compare with 1 John 3:10 - In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, (compare with 1 John 1:6 - does not practice the truth) nor is he who does not love his brother. *Notice that walks in darkness, hates his brother is connected to children of the devil.

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness is IN CONTRAST TO - If we SAY that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us (vs. 8) and - If we SAY that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us (vs. 10). Some people misunderstand verse 9 to mean that we must confess each sin that we commit as we commit them (keep a specific inventory) as an additional requirement to remain cleansed and if we forget a sin we are toast!

To not confess our sins but say that we have no sin or we have not sinned and keep on practicing sin demonstrates what about a person? 1 John 3:8 - the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Actually a, b, and c are right in context with what I SAID.......because there are any who

a. BELIEVE they can lose salvation
b. BELIEVE they must do good to keep it
c. BELIEVE they must blend faith, works and be sinless for salvation

Maybe you should read more slooooowwwwllllyyy before you post........and we have already covered salvation being a current possession and the word hope and what it means........so....your point is moot!

It all boils down to our manner of life..... One who lives a continual lifestyle of sin as compared to one who reasonably attempts to serve God yet fails and sins along the way....

There is a difference and this is where those who push this sinless false doctrine miss the mark.....!

I don't always find it easy at all :(
In fact, it is very difficult to live without sinning, but it is possible, as the following passage shows:

  • “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8.1-4).
  • “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” (Galatians 5.16,17).
  • “And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (Galatians 5.24,25).
  • “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” (1John 3.1-9).
  • “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” (1John 5.18).

So much so that the Lord commanded us to be perfect and saint like Him and Jesus confirmed this:

  • “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.” (Genesis 17.1).
  • “Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.” (Leviticus 20.7).
  • “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5.48).
  • “Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.” (2Corinthians 13.11).
  • “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1Peter 1.16).

Do you work for an ad agency or a politician? Because you can truly spin a yarn about nothing out of nothing. (And, that's not vulgar and distasteful?)
Amen to that.........slide in...make some flippant comment and then poof like David Copperfield in VEGAS doing a show.......

You should study the word perfect.....it does not carry the modern idea of perfection...it means complete or mature and as the OP pointed out...even the most faithful men of the bible had to confess sin....there is a difference between living a lifestyle of sin as opposed to a believer making a reasonable attempt to serve God and occasionally failing and sinning along the way.......ONLY ONE was sinless...JESUS.....end of story!
