I mentioned in a different thread that I wanted know more about the Holy Spirit and why the term Holy Ghost is hardly used anoymore (at least to my knowledge)
okay my only help in this topic is that Jesus once spoke there is none "good" but God....I would think the same about "holy"
but God spoke in the old testament..... Jesus was born and crucified in the new testament as He introduces the comforter...or Holy Spirit... (In Act talks about the intro to this topic...)
John 1:1 says In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the Word Was God
(please explain this verse also)
I am Pentecostal...I totally believe that if I don't continually try to learn more about God's Word and about God and everything about my faith... I am weak...spiritually...and the devil will try to make me weaker
The truth is it is about receiving the Holy Spirit, which without the Spirit they are ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, and without the Spirit they can never overcome the flesh, which a Spirit led life will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. It is about receiving the Spirit, which the blood of Christ that washes away our sins causes us to be able to receive the Spirit.
The Spirit is so important to understanding God's word, that we need not that any person teach us,but the Spirit will teach us,and bring us in to all truth, bring back to our remembrance things that we learned, and show us things to come.
Any Church that does not claim the power of the Holy Spirit in the life of a person,or limits that power, should be a Church to avoid.
But concerning Pentecostals,UPCI,I have observed that they do make the best effort, and visibly known,at abstaining from sin, which does not mean they might not sin,but they appear as the most holy, and able to keep from sin,and want to keep from sin, than any other group, and I have observed that people that believe OSAS have a lot of worldliness about them.
But I do not let myself get influenced by preachers, but check out the word myself, and hear what they say,but always check it out myself, for if a person does that they might not understand some things in the Bible, but they will have a better take on it than listening to all these people say this and that, and God does not give the preacher more wisdom than any other person, and understanding of His word, for we need not that any person teach us,but the Spirit will teach us,and if any person lacks wisdom, let them ask God for wisdom, who gives to all people liberally, nothing wavering.
So we should not look at preachers as wow, that man knows a lot of the Bible,as if a common pew sitter cannot understand the same, which I have noticed that all these people that people look at as spiritual giants can have some wrongful doctrines, and some big errors, and influence a lot of people with such.
