It's a simple question. Do you have the Son?
Now I am laughing. Not AT you. Just...cracking up. I believe it would be impossible to have the Holy Spirit living in you and NOT have the Son! Just want to reiterate I am not laughing AT you. :D

I have never judged,, But people in here have judged,,

Thats why I asked you. Would you judge them as unsaved or not?
I wouldn't. I would pray that God saves them and reveals His truth and love. Then trust in faith that GOD will give me words and wisdom to do whatever He wills that will accomplish that or move others in their life to water or replant the seed until the plant of salvation grows strong with deep roots and bears fruit.

Then according to 1 John 5:12, what else do you have?

Where your heart is....there your treasure will be also. Is peter not telling us about his struggle with material possessions? ;)
Oh..,, I thought is was a confession of "who stole the cookie from the cookie jar"..... Cuz you know kids put everything in their mouth and have to have God smack their hand from eating rat poison?

This thread is not helping my headache.

It is the difference, really, between looking at eternal life as something that is yours or something that is Him. Eternal life is Him. He IS the life. I don't see eternal life as a thing to grasp for my own. I see eternal life as a Person.
Eternal life is to KNOW the Father and Him. Surely the knowing of Him IS a thing to grasp for my own. It is not a person, it is knowing God. And I should grasp it with all my being. For in knowing Him we have eternal life.

I believe any branch that does not bear fruit is cut off.
But not one who has eternal life. The branch that is cut off from the vine is one that is not really a true part of the vine, one that is not receiving life from the vine. It NEVER had eternal life..

I believe that branches that bear fruit are pruned to bear even more fruit.
Absolutely,

I believe that if I abide in Him, I will not be unfruitful.
Absolutely.

So this trust is security to me, that if I continue in that trust/abiding, I DO have security and peace.
true.

If I lose that peace of security, it happens because I am not abiding somewhere, in something.
But you are still abiding, Otherwise you have been cut off.

So we work together on it until I am abiding again.
Once you are cut off there can be no abiding.

I just don't see the need for constant arguments or demands that I state that I don't need to keep abiding in Him to keep living. I just keep abiding.
You SHOULD keep abiding according to Jesus. It is the way of fruitfulness.

I know you don't see it the same way. I think the most major difference is that I do not think you have fallen from grace, but (I am assuming) you think I have.
a child is not cut off because he has the wrong ideas.

And I'm okay with you thinking that. It doesn't make me mad. It doesn't take my peace that you might think it. And it doesn't make me think you aren't my brother.
lol but I don't think that. you may 'fall from grace' doctrinally, It doesn't mean you have ACTUALLY fallen from grace.

I will state that doctrine matter and understanding others doctrinal positions is important to have productive and edifying dialog.

Some dislike labeling their beliefs doctrine, as much as they dislike traditional churches.

You can call it by another name of you prefer: teachings, precepts, laws, etc.

We have essential doctrine that is the gospel message. This is what people believe will send you to hell or allow you to be accepted in heaven.

And we have nonessential doctrine like the end times debates and fulfillment of prophecy.

I have been observing many people's stated beliefs and most of the arguments are fueled by hurt feelings and defensive comments.

Everyone agrees with more than they disagree with.

I could make my observations known but that probably wouldn't help.

Eternal life! :D But I can't divorce it from the rest of scripture. I have that eternal life because I have the Son and I abide in Him and He abides in me. It all began by this faith, this trust, this abiding. And just as it would be foolish to think I could finish in the flesh what began in faith and the receiving of the Spirit, it would be equally as bad to think it could be finished at all WITHOUT that faith, trust, abiding.

Everything after that "but" is your unbelief. You have the Son, and because you do you have eternal life. Believe it.

The word "abide" comes from the Greek word "meno" which means to remain, not to depart, continue to be present. Abiding is not something that only super saints do or those who claim to have reached sinless perfection.

1 John 4:15 -
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

Yes, that is a different context though, He was talking about how to produce fruit, Not how to get or stay saved..

or do you think producing fruit is required to maintain eternal life?
If any branch that does not produce fruit is cut off and thrown into the fire, do you think being thrown into the fire would have been better translated as "losing some rewards?"

As long as I keep abiding I do. But I'm not so foolish as to think that what began for me through that very abiding can now be finished apart from it.

Jesus was talking to those who 'claimed to believe'. Those who do not bear fruit are dead branches, not a true part of the vine. Those who are a true part of the vine produce fruit,

I should read this all first but your first sentence grabs me and puzzles me. Jesus said, I am the life. So I don't understand saying that eternal life is not a Person. The life is Him and the life is in Him and apart from Him there is no life.
