Haha, it feels so weird making a thread about an actual specific living person : p Like, I have a fear that he will one day google his own name and find this thread here on this site, haha.
But anywho, Ive been thinking alot about him lately, and Id really like to hear others opinions on him here, from other Christians.
(this will be a long post, so I hope you have the time to read it and think about my thoughts here)
I watch his videos, I watch almost every single one of them, though I have to admit that I struggle to be motivated to sit through one if its around 40-60 minutes long. But yeah, I have a very high opinion of him. Ive mentioned on this site before, when I first started coming to Christ (or like just right before I did), I had spoken with a Muslim on a chat room who told me about how Christ was just a "prophet", that He was not our Lord and Savior, not the Son of God, the Emmanuel, who would judge the world and rule from Israel forever and worshiped by all. And he used bible verses to prove it. And at the time I actually was confused by it. I mean I was already confused on who He really was to begin with, and this made me more uncertain about Him. So David Wood had a huge impact on my faith in Him.
But yeah, I think he is a very wise man, highly educated, and that he makes extremely amazing arguments that are both easy to understand, as well as easy for ANYONE to use, that are also both informative, educational, and full of truth. He is loved even by non-Christians for his insight.
But I often see people who call themselves Christians on his comment sections who say he is not doing good work. While I completely disagree with them, and think he is an awesome teacher and important for this day and age, they sometimes do manage to make me think. I read one comment just yesterday, the poster said that they believe he does what he does out of spite. I am on the fence with these people who claim he is proudful, boastful, and insulting.
David Wood does make one comment that I agree with. Too many people believe that love means always being nice, and trying to not offend anyone. I think that is a backwards way of thinking, as believing in Christ and His teachings are going to insult people. Even if you love someone, if you tell them the way they live or what they believe is wrong, they will take offense to it. But at the same time, I do wonder if his.... I dunno... lets call them "tactics", but yeah, I often wonder if they are always the right way to be.
I get the idea that when debating with Muslims, being all nice and kind and all that wont win them over, as they will just think you lack any wisdom and are merely relying on winning them over with kindness. But I still have to ask, how does God feel about it?
Im sorry for the really long opener here : p I just wanted to express every thought I have about this subject. What do you think? Do you agree with his tactics? Do you think hes mostly right but sometimes goes a bit too far, like all of us do? Do you think he is doing something terrible? Id like to hear others thoughts about this.
