Well what are you good at that seems to come easy? Certain skills and talents?

And then what ever you list probably can be used in one of the Spiritual gifts.

Example if you easily can talk to random people and can carry on conversations then you may be a good evangelist once you apply your love for Christ to excitingly and casually speaking of your faith to others.

More than likely your gifts are very noticeable since God gives you the gifts and its not something you have to really work at. Your gifted with it which should be very noticeable

I get troubled when people start discussing spiritual gifts. For some, I think it is just an ego trip. The Lord calls on us to do things, and we should attempt to do what we are called to do. I don't think there is much more to it than that.

I am partially inclined to agree with Res on this one,
but I suspect the reason behind the OP has more to do with wanting to know what to focus on,
...sometimes we might not see our own strengths, and thus fail to use them.

So maybe we should consult our friends, who might recognize things in us that we don't see.

Spiritual gifts are different than natural talents. I have found that sometimes when you begin to use a natural talent like teaching or your natural compassion for praying for the sick, there is an added layer "anointing by the Holy Spirit", which takes it to another level. If in teaching, you find words of wisdom and understanding just ready to be said that you haven't thought about before. In praying for the sick, all of a sudden you will KNOW that the Lord is ministering healing and your prayer will join with what he is doing.

Most spiritual gifts begin with whatever your passion is for. If you have a strong feeling for the sick, that will be where God uses you. Or a strong love for the Word, you are probably called to teach it.

Remember that you aren't given the gifts for yourself. The gift of teaching is for the one who needs the teaching, the gift of healing is for the person who is sick, the gift of prophecy is for the one who needs to be comforted/instructed/exhorted. You only hold the gift for the one who needs it.

Sorry, but the fact is ...
very few are given any of the 9 spiritual power gifts (1 Cor 12)
who have NOT been baptized with the Holy Spirit (by Jesus Himself),
the confirmation of which is at least a few words in tongues.

Believers are first baptized into the church by the Holy Spirit (see 1 Cor 12 also).

For the power baptism of anointing, I recommend Matthew 7:7-11.

So you know there are nine different gifts, and that people don't all receive them,
yet you think that ALL must be given the gift of tongues? Why is that? I know several people who have gifts of the spirit but never spoke in tongues

Should there be an activation by a prophet?

Let God guide you. He will show u if your supposed to be in some kind of spiritual ministry.
Theres so many gifts. The spiritual gifts are no more special than the other 7 from Romans.
Ask God :) and you'll receive

Which gifts?

The Romans 12 motive gifts are grace given to you....the 9 Gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to who he severally wills...The 5 ministry gifts in Ephesians 4 are called and then sent...the 1 Peter 4 gifts are similar to the gifts in Romans 12.

Wrong, tongues are not the evidence, Love and the rest of the fruit of the Spirit is.

I would just pray and ask God to make it clear to you

there is such conflicting advice in this thread

God is the one that hands out the gifts through His Spirit and I do not believe you have to speak in tongues to have received

pray. ask in faith and God will show you. maybe not right away, but He will make things clear as you seek Him

I think the tests help greatly. At least it pinpointed what gifts I have and what I don't have. No need to waste time doing what I stink at (Teaching.) After that, I found the different ministries going on in the churches I've been in, (or other churches connected to them), got over getting nervous, and pitched in. If it wasn't me, that usually became clear within 3 months, so try something different. (Wasn't good at prison outreach, Word of Knowledge, or anything related to kids either. lol)

Took me a mere 10-15 years to figure out what my gifts are that way, and I've been useful one way or another ever since.

Added bonus: No one has ever had to sit through one of my teachings and fallen asleep or had a stroke because it made absolutely no sense.

Actually, using gifts isn't easy-peasy. I'm great at talking to random people, but I royally suck at evangelism. My gifts included steep-learning-curve, but I could learn. I was taught how to evangelize often when I was young. Knowing how and being able to do it are two different things. I went to school to be a teacher and found out the hard way, I'm NOT a teacher. Couldn't do it as much as I wanted to do it, and I really wanted to do it.

Could do what I'm gifted to do, but even that took knowledge, discipline and something else I really stink at -- patience. God does gift us, but there is a learning-curve. And just because you like something doesn't mean you're good at it.
