Ok,let me write this down.

1thes 4 is a fantasy

Raising the dead ,and animals talking is unbiblical.

Check.
Perhaps you might want to check out the exegetical Greek posts I have done on 1 Thess. 4. I think you will find the translations are very weak on verse 17. Or at least, the faulty interpretations of that verse!

Nothing is impossible with God! But do I believe every person who comes up with a song and dance about animals talking or the dead being raised? No! Just because God used a donkey to talk to a false prophet 4000 years ago, means it has anything to do with how God works in the lives of Christians today! And one example does not make for good hermeneutics. That's Bible interpretation to you.

I am talking theology, and you are talking experience. I am talking the Bible, and you are talking naivety.

I am talking discernment and you are trying to shame me for being discerning!

What an absolutely true OP this is!

It really makes me ashamed, as a Christian, the nonsense I see posted in this forum. All based on ignorance and lack of discernment. I have quite a few atheist friends, that I pray for and witness to. They see stuff like this, and they think every Christian is ignorant and/or lying. Some of you people make it so hard to witness to the lost!

Luckily, Christians in my real life are not so foolish or I'd likely abandon Christianity.
Hello Sparkman,

There have been and always will be those people making these kinds of claims. But in regards to your last line in the post, our faith should not based on what other people do or say, but should rest solely on the fact that Jesus shed his blood for us. Therefore, nothing that anyone says or does should cause us to abandon Christ, for their actions do not change his sacrifice for us.

Why would those who believe in HIM ask HIM to prove HIMSELF?

For what purpose?
Sorry I am confused by your message. No one who believes does ask for proof. Only those who doubt ask for proof. Which is completely acceptable. Sorry for any confusion still very much a novice.

When HE said a wicked generation asks for a sign

Dp you think HE was referring to an unbelieving generation

Scripture is full of miraculous healings. So why wouldn't I be able to apply scripture to my own healing? You sir are a naysayer. I don't have to prove anything to you or anyone else on this forum. My trust is in the Lord and I know without a doubt the Lord still heals, still raises the dead and still loves us enough to keep His promises. His promises, from scripture, is enough evidence for me to believe. God Bless
It appears you are applying the scriptures to your experiences of healings. This is faulty cause and effect. You must first prove your healings were supernatural before applying it to scripture. Labeling something natural as a supernatural event puts you on dangerous ground. Labeling a carnal healing as a miraculous healing is the gateway to the occult.

If your decision to "abandon" Christianity is based on people then you are very much in the wrong. You should choose Christ because He is Truth not because of what other people say or do, even if they claim to be Christian. You should follow Jesus based on who He is.
I totally agree with you, as said Peter:

"Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life." (John 6.68).

It is very wicked to ask for a sign when no claim is made. But not in response to a claim. Proof always follows claims. Without proof a claim is meaningless. If someone claims to be a U.S. Marshall he should expect a request for proof. There is no shame in the request. In Matthew 16:4 the generation you are referring to were well aware of the many miraculous signs He was doing. They but wanted Jesus to cater to them. Jesus refused and continued on His way still miraculously healing. I hope this answers you question.

Unfortunately, many of these "unorthodox" beliefs do bring a negative effect on those not of the faith. The internet has not helped one bit.

I don't have to prove anything to you. I know my relationship with the Lord and I know what He has done in my life. How does it put me on dangerous ground? Are you serious that you are claiming my healing from God is part of an occult? You lack faith and belief. Jesus spoke of people like you.

We were talking about miracles

correct?

we weren't discussing men providing credentials as proof who they were

we were talking about the ONE who came and did what no other could do who has left WITNESSES who testify of HIM

john 15:22-25

CHRIST testifies of HIMSELF
Though of course many of the Law didn't accept HIS TESTIMONY because the Law requires two or three witnesses

well today there are many witnesses and still
this generation wants more

So these miracles
these physical carnal healings
for what purpose are these miracles glorified?

What is a carnal healing?
Trusting in the arm of the flesh, the wisdom of man, the ability of man for healing first... and when mankind's efforts fail only then do some try and get serious about trusting the Lord for their healing.

That's the cart before the horse as Jesus is THE physician and when one learns how to receive healing based on what God's Word teaches one can grow to where they don't need medical science.

Who needs obama care???
Jesus paid for my health and healing already... it's been paid for and it's mine now!

Spiritual healing is far more important
Some may not be physically healed but if their faith is in CHRIST regardless they will LIVE

All will die (physically) once
But not all shall suffer the second death
