Based on recorded biblical history earth is 6000+ years old. This is what I believe also.
I don't know where people are getting the number 6,000. When I added up the geneology it went past that. The earth is definitely under 15,000 years old though. Believe God over science- scientists have been wrong, God hasn't. It seems weird that the earth is that young, but look how far we've come just in the last hundred years. Scientists say dinosaurs lived billions of years before humans. I believe the Bible.

How old is the earth, or how old is the planet? The earth being called out of the water is around six thousand years old, how old this planet is could be another story. The story of Genesis begins with everything covered with water, this leaves the impression that the planet was already here and covered with water. The word EARTH in Genesis(actually throughout the bible)refers to the dry land rather then to the planet.

That's not how science works my friend :)P)

Nothing can be accepted as science unless it has been tested and approved and everything must be reproducable. You must not think that science is a form of a single community... It's simply a way to explore the facts about earth in a non-biased way, unlike many religions. I still believe though haha!
What a load of bunk. LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Well, you know, (Oops, no you don't know...) there was a scientific theory that was proven wrong. So much for tested and provable... even all the others, many are not provable at all. If you think scientists are unbiased you are in for a rude awakening. Thankfully there are some honest scientists. Unlike those who are willing to fudge facts and pretend their wool gathering has any merit.

one of the big theories is the GAP theory, I can remember like it was yesterday when I first heard about it, It answer so many questions I had about dinosaurs, all the scientists saying the earth is old etc etc. I could finally answer my friends questions when they asked. And without really studying it, I took it, and ran with it, for years I defended it.

then about ten years ago I started to study about the flood. I love to read, so started to read book from people and studying all views, And this is what changed my view, and led me to become a YEC proponent.
Chalmers popularized GAP theory to counter Darwin., because the Church had no rebuttal to Darwin.

At its core evolution seeks to remove Jesus Christ from the world view.

If God did not create anything, then there was no Adam & Eve or fruit after its kind, if there was no Adam and Eve or fruit there was no acceptation, if there was no temptation there was no SIN, if there was no SIN, there was no FALL, if there was no FALL, there was/is no need for a Jesus Christ to be a savior.

I feel like you have good points, but all of science tells us that in order for the fossils that are carved into the ice to be layered in the manner like they are, a few million years has to pass. This is a difficult topic :( My brain goes ouchie
Tune out all the static and watch Kent Hovind's Creation Seminar Part 1.
These vids are a few years old, but still the best thing out there.

I would take more seriously a CC member with a current rep power of 283 over a member with a rep power of zero any day of the week.
What is a rep power? What does it do? How can we change it or delete it?

that should not be acceptation, but temptation.

I know good and well that God made the earh, but there are some contradictions here now in my life. My mom says the earth is around 2000-3000 years old, but my science teacher, Professor Hemsworth, says that it is in fact around 5 billion years old. I have read the bible many times but I just need a straight answer! ;)
Sometimes straight answers are hard to come by. I, for one, don't know how old the earth is. The Bible would suggest 2000-3000 years old, and science would suggest far older. Is the Bible using symbolism? Did the Lord create a world that appears to be billions of years old when, in fact, it's only two or three thousand? I can find peace even though I don't know the answer.

2000-3000 years comes from assuming a generation is 70 years but at one period of time a generation was at 120 years and prior to that it was averaging somewhere about the 800 years, (Anything from 700 to almost 1000 years) hence why one gets to around 6000-7000 years old for the earth. I've heard it added another 7000 years by working in the theory of the days of creation where in the New Testament it says a thousand years as a day and a day as a thousand years, but this is misquoted and does not apply to Genesis.

I agree it is a case of do you believe the Bible or scientists (Which themselves have huge variances of opinion from a few thousand years to in some cases billions of years). As we were not there and have only personally lived for a short period of time we can either take Gods word for it if we believe the Bible to be true, or we can take mans word for it if we dont, or we can even make our own version and take an aducated guess for ourselves! :D

"The age of the Earth is approximately 4.54 ± 0.05 billion years."

I am not sure why are you looking for the answer in the Bible. It is not there. Its like searching for the answer "in what year did Columbus discovered America" in the Bible.

Well, your Mom and the Prof are both wrong. It is at least 4,000 years since the flood, and it was around longer than the flood, so 2,000-3,000 is out.

And when I was being taught evolution in school the numbers grew (just in the time I was in school) from a couple of million to hundreds of millions. That's not a typo. I really meant "millions," not "billions." And yet, now it's all the way up to 4.6 billion, so you're prof is off AND the number keeps growing.

You're going to have to learn to live with this -- only God knows. So, you're wrong too. You don't "need" a straight answer, because you will live fine without ever knowing how old the earth it.

According to the testimony of scripture, it is about 6000 years old, give or take 100 years.
Not necessarily. Numbers in Ancient Hebrew were both numbers and symbolized something. What are the chance there really were exactly seven generation between Adam and Babel, then Babel and Noah, and then, and then, and then? It's a theory, but it's not the only theory. And as of now, (and probably until the end of creation), it will always remain theory.
