My favorite group is probably Sovereign Grace Music and artist is Chris Tomlin.
I'm with you on Sovereign Grace music. Looking forward to other good suggestions. The hokey unbiblical lyrics of certain genres is unpalatable.

Some folks who are "working their way to heaven" (&c &c &c &c &C) will probably appreciate this song.

Here is the chorus:

I'm comin' up on the rough side of the mountain,
I must hold to God, His powerful hand.
I'm comin' up on the rough side of the mountain,
*I'm doin' my best to make it in.

(*well, good luck with that)

I recall a Christian radio station in my hometown being called upon to ban this song. They did, thankfully.

Why are you posting it since the thread title asks for favorite songs?

There is a sticky thread under the music forum explaining. I think, from a phone, it's not possible. Or I haven't had luck if it is.

Really love these guys, and everyone else in Humble Beast record label too. J. Givens is one of my favorite Christian rappers - it was by following what he does that I found Beautiful Eulogy and their members solo stuff.

Do you think it's OK to put out music that is supposed to represent Christianity that isn't doctrinally sound?

I's be leery of any church or church band that plays their music in the dark... there is no darkness in Heaven and darkness is used to hide sin... so, it's really rather odd that they want to be in the dark is it not?

I'm a child of the light... so, I like bands that don't like darkness.

And why do they have to have fog machines? And laser light shows? Are these people on dope er something?... cause this is what they do at secular rock concerts to effect people's moods and other mind games.

If they aren't in agreement with God's Word... God will not accept the worship.

Yeah I like J givens too. Here is another group you might already know about that I think is pretty good. Most of the songs I've heard have all been Christ-centered. Only ever really listened to a few of their songs. Dunno why I haven't checked all their stuff out yet.

i like Hazakim too, but i haven't heard a whole lot of his stuff. i have his 'Son of Man' album on the flashdrive in my car stereo, which this is the first song on, but i haven't heard anything else. he seems like he leans towards 'Hebrew Roots' which there are problems with when you get down to nitty gritty law vs. works & whether Christ has made the old covenant obsolete, but he raps about righteousness, which i by no means disagree with, not about anything i see any kind of doctrinal issues over. it's a good album!

thanks :)

another song on this album features Monty G, who i'm a fan of too: here's something from him

I thought Hazakim was just Messianic Jewish. If they are Hebrew roots, I dunno. I haven't researched em though and prolly should before endorsing them :D

I haven't heard anything law-based in their lyrics though so far. And this Monty G, it would help if I could understand the accents LOL.

maybe Hazakim is a Messianic Jew? i don't know. lol we don't know what we're talking about but we like what he says. it's probably just the way he uses a lot of Hebrew-isms in the way he talks that makes me wonder if he's HR. but that makes the same amount of sense if he's a Messianic Jew
lol you'd think, we have google, we could find out. but no, i just post without looking XD

idc i love him.

yeah Monty does have a thick accent haha -- i've been listening to him for a while and there are still a bunch of lyrics i can't quite understand.. but i really have a heart for Christian reggae in general, so that's kind of a constant issue with me.

here, this song is easier to understand, and unmistakably Biblical lyrics :)
it's based on Psalm 35, AND this video has lyrics, so it's like having a Rosetta Stone to translate Monty G singing!
