Why bother if someone else is a grace/works believer? What difference does it make to YOU if Jane and John Doe believes in grace/works?

This is a general post not directed at anyone in particular.
Are you talking to me??????

LOL the BDF is not a place for the faint hearted.

Brother Grace, I am going to take you outside and we can settle it there once and for all :p

Deu 10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

Deu 30:6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

I will say this again, God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. The circumcision of the heart is nothing new. The fact that God doesn't want our false sacrifices are also in the OT

Hos 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Stephen was a law keeper. If he didn't keep the Torah (like keeping the Sabbath holy :) ) the Jewish leaders would have had enough reason to not bear false witness and kill him according to the law. The same goes for every disciple of Jesus. They were law keepers whether we like it or not or even if we don't understand why. Do a study on this and you will find that even your beloved Paul was a law keeper after he came to know our Messiah. :)

God bless friend
LOL....let us go outside the gate...:)

Of course Stephen kept the law - he is a Jew and all good Jews would keep the law. It is their way of life.

Paul never kept the law of Moses as can be seen by telling Christians that they were not under the law of Moses and to not get circumcised.

This is definitely against the law of Moses as outlined in the Old Testament.

Paul said to the Gentile Christians - that if they did get circumcised - Christ would be of no effect ( or become idle ) to them.

Galatians 5:3-4 (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

[SUP]4 [/SUP] Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

There is a vast difference between the keeping of a carnal commandment and the living from the life of Christ. ( Hebrews 7:16 ) One is a shadow and the other is the real substance.

This "law-keeping" can be narrowed down to this : Do Christians dis-obey God and are in fact sinning because they don't observe the sabbath rest as in the Old Testament way of from Friday until Saturday?

God bless you too brother. I know we view the "law of Moses" and the Christian's relation to it differently but we belong to Christ and that is the main thing.

Alles van die beste My kosbare broer!....:)

Well, obviously the PTB will not lock this thread, so don't mind me, while I keep posting things on it that talk of the Lord.

Spurgeon's devotional today is about "We shall not sing solos, but in chorus shall we praise our King."

“His heavenly kingdom.”
2Tim. 4:18

Yonder city of the great King is a place of active service. Ransomed spirits serve him day and night in his temple. They never cease to fulfil the good pleasure of their King. They always “rest,” so far as ease and freedom from care is concerned; and never “rest,” in the sense of indolence or inactivity. Jerusalem the golden is the place of communion with all the people of God. We shall sit with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, in eternal fellowship. We shall hold high converse with the noble host of the elect, all reigning with him who by his love and his potent arm has brought them safely home. We shall not sing solos, but in chorus shall we praise our King. Heaven is a place of victory realized. Whenever, Christian, thou hast achieved a victory over thy lusts-whenever after hard struggling, thou hast laid a temptation dead at thy feet-thou hast in that hour a foretaste of the joy that awaits thee when the Lord shall shortly tread Satan under thy feet, and thou shalt find thyself more than conqueror through him who hath loved thee. Paradise is a place of security. When you enjoy the full assurance of faith, you have the pledge of that glorious security which shall be yours when you are a perfect citizen of the heavenly Jerusalem. O my sweet home, Jerusalem, thou happy harbour of my soul! Thanks, even now, to him whose love hath taught me to long for thee; but louder thanks in eternity, when I shall possess thee.

“My soul has tasted of the grapes,
And now it longs to go
Where my dear Lord his vineyard keeps
And all the clusters grow.

“Upon the true and living vine,
My famish’d soul would feast,
And banquet on the fruit divine,
An everlasting guest.”

I so look forward to coming together as a body to serve the Lord, and to be there with him. No more longing but having.

yes, Mephibosheth. it's the Gospel!

"Is there anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan's sake?"

so we, too, are shown mercy and kindness for Jesus' sake. and we, too, will eat at the King's table.

is that light, Lynn? i hope so.

There won't be anyone opening their mouth before HIM on that day

those who say LORD, LORD didn't ((((I)))) don't know what they are saying

And those who assume their seats at the table, will be embarrassed when they see those to whom those seats are for

Do you want to know why the last will be first?
its because they are pure and fresh from HIS PRESENCE (at HIS feet even) having come in at the last hour
and haven't labored during the early hours and weathered the heat and storms of the day

right? ;)

i take great comfort in this:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Pet 1:3-5)

kept by the power of God. there is no greater love, no greater faithfulness, no greater power than His.
He will see to it His own persevere. :)

Amen, And I am sure you as well us the rest of us want to share this great gift and this great truth to others..

Another thing, one might want to review Abraham's priestly attitude (towards those who had served with him in the battle) when he gave Melchizadek a tenth

From my limited understanding of having spent over 50 years of bible study and contemplation I would say that any works performed for God and through the grace of God are a manifestation of the amount of faith the one possesses when one is born again by confession and forgiveness of sin by the shed blood of Jesus dying on the cross, inviting the Holy Spirit to live in our hearts, and to guide us in performing the works that our Heavenly Father has prepared for us beforehand.

James 2:14-26

What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Hi tourist...I have been walking with our Lord for nearly two years now and i still have so much to learn, am i right in believing that it is the Holy Spirit who prompts us to do a good deed, it is the Holy Spirit who leads us...it`s not the good works we do off our own backs, but the good works from the leading of the Holy Spirit...xox...

These are the kind of things I'm looking for now Lynn. When I say laws of the Kingdom...am not saying "constriction". That's the only word I can think of right now to explain. It's what works here to bring the atmosphere of heaven down to us. Or His hand is another way to put it.

I think God is waiting on us to get a clear picture of what Jesus has left us for an inheritance. So what I see here in your post is worship.

We can be in communion with the Lord all day. The question is how is this possible? Can we sing His praises all day? I think so...again though...how?

I have a question. Does light reveal darkness? Or does it dispel it?

Jesus is the Light of the world. When He is within us...is the Light making us into His image by revealing the soul of mankind? Or revealing Himself to us as what He has already given?

Should not the Light be flooding our soul? Rather than condemning it?
