We all know that Jesus preached to the Jews while Paul preached to the Gentiles. I feel that Jesus brought the Law to its full expression just to show the Jews that no one can be saved by keeping it.

Here are some evidences that some of Jesus’ teachings were for the Jews only:

Matthew 5:20
For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:23
"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, …

Luke 12:33
Sell your possessions and give to the poor”.

Matthew 19:16
Jesus said to the young rich man: “If you want to enter life, keep the commandments”. Then: “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor”. Jesus added: “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.

I know that Christians in the first century did sell possessions and shared the money with those in need, but they didn’t do that in an attempt to keep any law – they were just being guided by the Holy Spirit. We Christians are not required to sell our possessions and give alms, but Jesus taught that as a commandment to the Jews.

Most of us, in Christian Chat, are relatively rich. So, if all of Jesus’ teachings are for Christians, practically no one in here will be saved.

Many of the principles that Jesus taught are everlasting, but I feel that some are not.

Again, my question is: Which of Jesus’ teachings were applicable only to the Jews?
Sorry not read any of the replies so may be missing a lot. But in reply to your OP I would say that Jesus never personally preached to gentiles now called christians Mat 15v24....nor did He instruct His Disciples to go to the gentiles Mat 10v5.
So what was the purpose of having Paul preach to the gentiles ? very importantly it was to CONVERT people first....turn them from pagans/gentiles/ christians or of any other Belief to become a 'spiritual Jew/Israelite Rom 2v29 so they could THEN understand what Jesus/Yashua was/is saying !!!
Why is there all that religious confusion in christianity ? because people are reading Jesus without first becoming an Israelite of the house of Israel to enter the new covenant Heb 8.
Oh they are 'claiming it but are not going about it in humble obedience !

I do agree with what you said about "spiritual Israyl" But He did heal and speak with gentiles and also He told His disciples;

And might I add brother:

Matthew 28:19-20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Notice it says have commanded past tense. It dont say, sit around and wait for me to send Paul with a different doctrine up his sleeve. That would make no sense.
Wonderful post, I think this and Yahshau beingthe one we must hear and obey passage about the most compelling evidence, it is clear, Yahshua/Jesus told them to teach others what He taught them and he even says to the gentiles/nations! So we see His doctrine is for all Jew and non-Jews

all nations...to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you

"nations" is word
1484. ethnos
Strong's Concordance
ethnos: a race, a nation, pl. the nations (as distinct from Isr.)
Original Word: ἔθνος, ους, τό
Part of Speech: Noun, Neuter
Transliteration: ethnos
Phonetic Spelling: (eth'-nos)
Short Definition: a race, people, the Gentiles
Definition: a race, people, nation; the nations, heathen world, Gentiles.

very clear

I am really disappointed with the apparent lack of biblical knowledge and personal opinion that passes for 'knowledge' or understanding in some cases

if a person is familiar with the gospels and they are honest in their evaluation, it is apparent that Jesus most certainly did heal and speak with non Jews

so you are right in saying so Hizikyah

Thanks to Yah I have had the ability to study and learn His truth, Ill tell you it was not always easy or fun, especially when I found out something that I had prior believed to be false and had to seek what was the trurth, in the end thanks to Yah, for truth is most important.

Psalms 119:142, “Your righteousness is righteousness forever, And Your Torah is truth.”

Jesus magnified the Law -- brought it to its full meaning -- and at the cross He said: "It's finished" (accomplished/paid in full). The unblemished Lamb was being sacrificed to pay for our sins, and so He fulfilled the Law.

There are 2 "it is finished" statements...

Fulfilled already
John 19:30, “So when יהושע took the sour wine He said, “It is done!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”

Fulfilled already- To be fulfilled in the future

1. Passover/First-fruits – Yahshua's Sacrifice(Passover), burial and resurrection (First Fruits)
2. Feast of Unleavened Bread – Removal of sin by Yahshua's perfect work as the Passover Sacrifice
3. Feast of Weeks – The blessing Holy Spirit of YHWH, coming into our lives stronger than ever
4. Feast of Trumpets – Yahshua's return and gathering of the Saints
5. Day of Atonement – Yahshua leads the army of YHWH to destroy evil rulers of this world and satan is chained for 1,000 years
6. Feast of Tabernacles – Yahshua dwells on earth for 1,000 years teaching truth and righteousness
7. The Last Great Day – satan is loosed and swiftly destroyed, the Kingdom of YHWH reigns forever

To be fulfilled in the future
Revelation 21:4-8, “And Yah shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, nor mourning, nor crying. And there shall be no more pain, for the former matters have passed away. And He who was sitting on the throne said, “See, I make all matters new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and trustworthy. And He said to me, “It is done! I am the ‘Aleph’ and the ‘Taw’, the Beginning and the End. To the one who thirsts I shall give of the fountain of the water of life without payment. The one who overcomes shall inherit all this, and I shall be his Strength and he shall be My son. But as for the cowardly, and untrustworthy, and abominable, and murderers, and those who whore, and drug sorcerers, and idolaters, and all the false, their part is in the lake which burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death.”

Mt5:18, "I say to you; Unless heaven and earth passes away, one yodh; the smallest of the letters will in no way pass from the Law, until all things are perfected."

Rev21:1-2, "I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away."

The year is 2017, in a galaxy far far away. Christians are wondering if Jesus meant what He said and if His words are applicable. Jesus said they are spirit and life, His words will judge people, go and teach all nations what i HAVE said, my word remains forever and having said all that.
The question still remains, are the words applicable? We can never know.

Maybe we should ask the scholars, roll out the bible pundits to explain how a testament works. We've only had a thousand years of examples on how it works but maybe in this context it means something different.
Maybe it says something different in the greek? Maybe they will find new manuscripts which explain it.

please quote the verse that explains how Jesus magnified the law

but first, here is a message from our sponsor...the common household dictionary:

Magnify: mag·ni·fyˈmaɡnəˌfī/

make (something) appear larger than it is, especially with a lens or microscope.

so you are saying that Jesus glorified the law? you are saying that Jesus enhanced it, made it of more importance than it is?

well, it will be interesting to see that verse cause I didn't know it was there :p

this is what happens when people neglect their Old Testament and poorly comprehend the New because of it

was the law put in place to save people? what does Paul say about the law?

was Abraham or Moses or even David saved by the law?

so many questions....

Hizikyah, do you keep the Sabbath exactly like the Jews did? Do you refrain from lighting a fire, etc? I often see many 7th Day Adventists going to church on a bus on Saturdays. That means they need sinners (people who don't obey the Law) to ride them to church.

I seek to honor the 7th day Sabbath according to YHWH and Yahshua. I don't care about the Jew law, I care about YHWH's, you do know the Jews/pharisees made their own laws, they made the Sabbath a burden... also I dont care what SDA does. I do not keep the Sabbath according to the pharisees, and your demener toward it is a pharisess like view. I have kept the Sabbath and do seek to, no I do not do it perfectly all the time. When I hae walked in His set apart day it was great joy and it centered me from the rest of the week, and week by week I was stronger and stronger in Him.

Mat 12:12, "And how much more valuable is a man than a sheep? Therefore, it is Lawful to do righteousness on the Sabbath."

Mark 3:4, “And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.”

Isayah 58:11-14, "YHWH will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat; (strengthen), your bones. You will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. And those of you will rebuild the old waste places; you will raise up the foundations of many generations; and you will be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In; If you turn away your foot from breaking the Sabbath: from doing your pleasure; your own business, your own pleasure, on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight; the holy day of YHWH honorable, and will honor Him by not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor engaging in idle conversation: Then you will find your joy in YHWH; and I will cause you to ride on the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Yaaqob your father, for the mouth of YHWH has spoken it."

Isaiah 56:1-7, “Thus said יהוה, “Guard right-ruling, and do righteousness, for near is My deliverance to come, and My righteousness to be revealed. Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who becomes strong in it, guarding the Sabbath lest he profane it, and guarding his hand from doing any evil. And let not the son of the gentile who has joined himself to יהוה speak, saying, ‘יהוה has certainly separated me from His people,’ nor let the eunuch say, ‘Look I am a dry tree.’ For thus said יהוה, “To the eunuchs who guard My Sabbaths, and have chosen what pleases Me, and are holding onto My covenant: to them I shall give in My house and within My walls a place and a name better than that of sons and daughters – I give them an everlasting name that is not cut off. Also the sons of the gentile who join themselves to יהוה, to serve Him, and to love the Name of יהוה, to be His servants, all who guard the Sabbath, and not profane it, and are holding onto My covenant, them I shall bring to My set-apart mountain, and let them rejoice in My house of prayer. Their ascending offerings and their sacrifices are accepted on My altar, for My house is called a house of prayer for all the peoples.”

Mat 24:20, "But pray that your flight will not be in the winter, nor on the Sabbath Day."

Luke 16:17, "But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one yodh of the Law to fail."

Revelation 22:12-15, "And behold, I come quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work will be. I am the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessed are those who keep His Laws, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and worshipers of gods and everyone who professes to love, yet practices falsehood."

Revelation 14:13, "And I heard a voice from heaven saying to me: Write: Blessed are the dead, the ones dying in the Messiah from now on! Yes, says the Spirit: because they will rest from their labors and their works do follow them!"

Mat 24:20, "But pray that your flight will not be in the winter, nor on the Sabbath Day."

Marcelo may we reason togather? truth is more important than anyting I would appreiciate a reply to my last post, but at least I would like you view on thispassage especially concerning the topic here, what is for Jew or Gentile.

Hizikyah, I see you're very sincere and God will reward you for that. Don't worry about keeping the Sabbath perfectly because Paul says we don't have to keep it at all.

Thank you and praise to Yah He has guided. I enjoy honoring the Sabbaths 7th day and High Sabbath/Feast Days, doing it has been some of my best times with Yah. and honestly I think you misunderstand paul.. I know the passages you are talking about;

Colossians 2 is commonly used as a witness against Yah’s Sabbaths, however, Yah’s Sabbath are 100% bout the Messiah and have origins from Yah, not the world or paganism...

Colossians 2:20, “If, then, you died with Messiah from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to it’s ordinances.”

Colossians 2:8, “See to it that no one makes a prey of you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary matters of the world, and not according to Messiah.”

excet for the Sabbaths are all about Yahshua so maybe he is talking about worldly holidays...
and it was prophesied that the beast would seek to decieve the saints concering this matter...

Thank you and praise to Yah He has guided. I enjoy honoring the Sabbaths 7th day and High Sabbath/Feast Days, doing it has been some of my best times with Yah. and honestly I think you misunderstand paul.. I know the passages you are talking about;
I know a lady who is just like you -- Saturday is a glorius day for her.

I feel that Paul says Christians don't have to keep the Sabbath, and you -- according to your Bible study -- are sure that the Sabbath law is forever. I must be consistent with my belief, and you with yours, until God shows either of us the real truth.

I respect that, you know I think we are all in the earthly trial togahter and we are all seeking Him and His ways, yet we are all in different places but as long as we continue on His path it will lead to Him, I just think it important to consult the word in it's fulness and not let anything interfere with that, none know all of the truth but we seek it, as what ever His Spirit guides will line up with the written word or it is not His Spirit.

Here is another opinion about the subject being discussed. I don't like pastor David calling hypocrites people with a different point of view, but the video is interesting.

You can call pastor David a false teacher if you want to, but don't call ME a false teacher because I'm only a student.

this guy must be God because he seems to know peoples motives and their actions...this guy is a clown

Also....What about what Yahshua/Jesus said in the book of Revelation?
