Why is gematria given so much importance?

studying math is easier than studying the Bible.

finding patterns in the sums and multiples of numbers is easier than looking for Christ in the scripture. it passes for "study" with some people.

not that i would call gematria - especially the kind being passed off in this thread - anything like studying math.

You may claim what you like, but the content of your posts does not bear out your claims. You could have acknowledged your error several times now, but you double down on it. I'm done with you.
The thread is recorded for all to see.

Magenta called into question the count of the word "book" in the New Testament. I pointed out that I did not say "book(s)." I don't understand why this is too hard for you to comprehend!

These number pattern are found in the gematria of the Hebrew and Greek texts also. Therefore, we have 3 witnesses when we include the English. Watch the video on youtube of the numbers 37 and 73 in the Bible.

You are absolutely right.

Christ is hidden in Scripture like the unknown factor is in maths.

If you know how to do the maths you're good.

why doesn't it occur to James that if there is real gematria he should be looking for it in Hebrew, not English?
You will find that the gematria in the Hebrew and Greek bear witness to the number patterns in the King James Bible and God is true to His word.

1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. (2 Corinthians 15:1)

Hebrew, Greek, and English. God follows the patterns that He has set forth.

that's arbitrary.

the Bible was translated into other languages before English, and actually the original scriptures are Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic - parts of Daniel are not Hebrew.

James, are you a Kabalarian? Have you read Michael Drosnin, also?

Do people come to Christ as a direct result of doing this type of number study?

No and No. I take the Bible literal and it states the "wisdom" is connected with counting.

Revelation 13:18
Ecclesiastes 7:27 (666th chapter of Bible 37 x 18)

2 witnesses

My argument is biblical and none here have refuted anything I've stated from the Bible.

Christ says the scriptures testify of HIM

not that they testify of KJV. so which are you looking for -- ?

to me, the sign that the scripture is God-breathed is that they are revealing the Messiah on every page, with everything written in them. not that they are revealing KJV or that you can find relationships between arbitrarily chosen numbers and make vague associations between things you randomly pick out of a bag.

show me that math, please: show me Christ revealed by number, weight and measure.

My point is that many people reads the Bible like they would read about maths.

They read what they see, but fails to comprehend what it's really about.

Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; (Hebrews 8:1)

This verse contains the 21st (3x7) of the mathematical word "sum." The King James Bible is in perfect order.

The beginning of wisdom is fear of the Lord. Do you preach Christ, and Him crucified? Ecclesiastes is numbering the foolish and wise things of humanity, not talking about numbering Bible verses or assigning number values to letters and words. Look at how that chapter ends:

Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man
upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

That's actually a non literal translation in the KJV. The word is not sum, it is kephalaion, which means 'the point' and it is the only time that word is found in scripture.

So, The point ...

I thought I was dealing with Christians on this website. Why should I preach Christ to christians? Am I on a website full of lost atheists. I am here on this website for 1 reason only and that is to show all the CHRISTIANS on this site what God has shown me. Nothing else and nothing more.

You miss the point. God placed the word "sum" there and God showed me a perfect response to your post from His book which is in perfect order.
