Fake faith-faith that believes that God exists that passes itself off as the faith that God has forgiven your sins in Jesus Christ.

It's not enough to believe the gospel is true. You must believe that it is for you and that you have received it for the asking. Your life from that point forward will reveal if you really received the gospel in faith and don't just merely believe it's true. I've met many unconverted people who won't argue about the existence of God and the reality of the gospel, but they have never received the free gift of redemption by faith. They have a faith that can not save them.
You should be out witnessing to the world, fornits the world that says they know God exists, yet has no understanding of need for salvation.

The body of Christ needs built up in faith. Not torn down.

That is not what James is talking about at all.

Fake faith.
Faith that believes that God exists that passes itself off as the faith that has received the gift of God in the forgiveness of sin. The church is full of 'em. They believe God exists. They even know they gospel is real (like demons know). But they resist receiving the forgiveness of their sin and have not entered into the gospel they know is true. You go to church with many of them every Sunday. You may even be one yourself. How do you know? By how you live.

Fake believers who only believe that God is real are like tares. They look like wheat but at the end of the day can not produce the fruited head of a stalk of wheat. They can't do that because they are tares not wheat. They are not plantings of God, they are plantings of the evil one. They will be burned up when Jesus comes back unless they get converted between now and then. That's why we talk about this stuff, so you can know for sure if you're a planting of God or a fake planting. That's not judging. That's helping people know if they're ready for the return of the Farmer.

James is teaching on the profitable life of the Christian and being judged by the law of liberty when we stand before God

[SUP]12 [/SUP]So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty.

Grace alone means just that. Grace alone. (void of any works)

We can either earn what we have, and thus it is a reward or wage (works) or we are given what we have as a gift, because we can not earn it (grace)
I think i disagree with this EG. If one has Holy Spirit, we are given gifts. The work through these giftings are of the Lord, and are for the good of others. Like this thread. It's a work of God, yet it was started by Dcon. Am not even speaking of tongues here.

We flow in union with Him, so there can't be no works.

In my mind it is still grace alone. We wouldn't have giftings if not given to us. We are empowered.

Or understanding truth even. We see in scripture where the mind is opened to the truth by Holy Spirit too.

Praying for each each other then becomes really important. Probably the work assigned but we skip over it.

Everybody gets judged by the law. That is what condemns those who are condemned. The bottom line is, if you are not producing the fruit of the kingdom in increasing measure you are not ready to meet Christ when he returns. That part is not in debate. We don't have to get into whether he's talking about being able to lose your salvation or not. That does not change the simple fact that if you have no works when he returns you will be condemned as an unbeliever.

Ralph,

I have no words, that does not happen easily...carry on with someone else who can perhaps explain the Law of Liberty.

You misunderstood me sis, I am talking about salvation. Not a person who has already recieved grace.

A child of God works for rewards. A non child of God needs saved.

You are aware of the parable of the vine. There are lots of dead branches in the vine of Christ. There are lots of people in the kingdom of God we see here on earth that will be purged out when he comes. Make sure you're not one of them. Make sure the one sitting in the pew next to you is not one of them. Don't be all PC and be afraid of offending them in their lostness. Only the fruited branches remain.

A person has to recieve it also.

A demon believes there is a god. Just like romans 1 says all people believe there is a god, yet hid the truth because they loved sin,

Mere believe is not faith.

But all faith has belief.

Confusing I know. But thats the English language for You.

I am going to interject, EG is saying Grace cannot be earned because then it makes it a wage and Paul is very clear that we cannot put God in our debt so as to make grace like a wage.

Wouldn't the law of liberty be the same as the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus? For one in (a fixed position) Christ Jesus is set free from the law of sin and death.

iow, no condemnation.

What if the only "reward" I want, is a heavenly log cabin on a lake with lots of duckies and geese and birds and cats and wildlife? And an infinite supply of bread.. lol

stonesofflames, I know you will disagree we me, but read this before you respond to what I said.

“The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, 42and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43“Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH AS THESUN in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear. Matthew 13:41-43

Nope I totally get what you are saying and totally agree, without the word mere because I do not want to denigrate the role of belief as it used in the Gospels however faith is different that belief and I agree faith has belief.

Bingo. Faith without works is dead. Unprofitable. Useless. And will be burned up. BUT the believer will still be saved as if through fire.

AND, if James was really talking about unbelievers and the "really not saved." Why wouldn't he instantly pull out John 3:16 and Acts 16:31 for them?! Why try to explain works to an unbeliever? They cannot possibly do them if they are not saved first and filled with the Spirit.

Faith without Christ and His Grace is no salvation.

Faith without works is dead. Unprofitable and rewardless. And believers will be saved as if through fire in The Lords evaluation of them(Bema seat.)

For some reason I am finding this very funny, maybe because of your picture and I am a bit of a wordsmith even though I type terribly and make many mistakes...but it is you are doing well:)

You've been doing good these last few posts. Don't blow it.

Amen, one has to read James in the light of all other scriptures and not be like Luther who wanted to toss it out of the Bible or twist it to mean we need works to be saved.
