Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Paul says Married to another ; Christ. So use a divorced woman as an example here : as God divorced Israel .
When a woman repents and is baptized by her faith ; she knows the Word, her body dies in the Lord , being raised a new creature free to remarry.
The restrictions, or penalties the law called for, are no longer in effect upon believe in the New Covenant, through Christ. We repent and move on with life.
Jeremiah 3: God divorced Israel, but when He died on the cross in the flesh,
then as believers we're part of the wedding , and are the bride of
Christ.
There is forgivness for divorces in this example ;
true repentance to the Father ;in Jesus name . God forgives us
. Hebrews 8:12 . The sin is gone .
When Paul says death, you have to grasp its a spiritual saying .
As Christians there is freedom from the penalties of the law.
The law says divorce is wrong : but when repentance is made ;
then even divorce is erased.
"freedom from the law
Romans 8:2" is the gift from God, of forgiveness.
None of the Bible says the law is gone . Many ignorantly believe the law is gone, because they get confused with these sayings given in a spiritual sense.
Christ paid a price, to give us Total forgiveness for all people who believe and accept His Words.
no, see people speak of the Law as if they know what it says of things, and then they get off track this is the law of moses and what it says of divorce. you state that the "law" says its wrong...the law of moses says
dueteronomy 24 " When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. 2And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife. 3And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife; 4Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD"
this is my point, the law says this about marriage. we dont have to try to guess what the law says it is written, Moses said if you get married and you are not happy for some reason, divorce your wife, and then she can re marry (and you) to other people. but if you both divorce again, you then cant re marry each other. this is what the mosaic Law says for marriage and divorce.
this is why the idea Jesus taught the Law is wrong Jesus said this
matthew 5:
It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:32But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.:
do you see what i mean? theres no arguing that they are two different directives. you could never obey moses directive and freely divorce, freely remarry, and also follow Jesus directive do not divorce unless it is because of adultery, if you do you cause your wife to be an adulterer. "
to me, it doesnt seem like a far fetched thing to just simoly see the truth that the 2 doctrines are very different what Moses taught, and what Jesus taught. its like this at many points its contrary. yet, if you search in the Law of moses you will find the fundamental elements of the Gospel hidden within all of the harsh judgements and sentances upon the sinner. there is no opportunity for the adulterer to survive under the law, but under Grace, Jesus forgives Her and then instructs her to repent after He loves Her and saves Her.
Jesus did what He did for us first, but it doesnt exclude what He taught us. yes you are correct about divorce being something that if it is behind a person, they need to simply ask forgiveness, and pray that God bless thier marriage, because His death is for everything we have already done yesterday we cant change, today we can repent and tomorrow we can see the face of God in eternity.
because Jesus Loves us and we could none of us be forgiven for what we had already done, we already were guilty of sin and sentanced to death prior, thats the reason we needed salvation, wether a divorced person in the passed , a liar, a cheat, a thief, a violent person, an idolater, whatever the crime, we have all sinned and have all been condemned prior to Jesus offering salvation. when Jesus comes " the doctrine is " salvation" that word means there is a condemnation of some sort, man was not created needing to be saved. the only valid partion as far as authority in the Law, os nothing in the book, but the 10 commandments written by God and spoken By God Himself and put in the ark. the book was only ever a witnesss against sinners.
the law remains, WE died to the laws authority over us. thats what pauls whole teaching about us dying in the vbody of Christ is all about, and paul clearly explains it
He uses the examolke oif marriage, because in the law, if your husband died, the law of marriage ended and then you were no ;longer bound to the oath you took because " till death do we part" death ends the Law. in the law an adulterer, sentanced and executed, no plea, no im sorry, death sentance at the hands of Gods camp of people. the authority of the mosaic Law is for those who refuse to repent, the law remains until the new heaven and earth, Jesus words will never pass they are eternal. thats what He himself says.
the law remains, but we died and that ends our debt to the law. when a sinner is put to death under the mosaic Law, the Law has no more sentance, no more to say to the person. you sin, you are put to death , the end you rest in the earth until the messiah comes with life. the law is done with the sinner when they are executed. that is why it is essential that Jesus die for the sinners, we are all sentanced by law to death we were done for no hope and God made a way for us where we had no chance of life.
to obey Jesus we dont have to be perfect we already Know He loves us, we do have to accept His words as the Ones to believe and trust for salvation, paul and the apostles are awesome and expound alot to us from the gospel, the law and prophets are awesome because they show us what happened that man needed salvation, and we see the promise begin to milleniums before Jesus was born and fulfilled it all. but the crown Gem, the main attraction, the true North of scripture, the Light for understanding is the Gospel of the Kingdom spoken by Our Lord.
its not like law because it has the elements of " judge not, and you will not be judged. forgive, and you will be forgiven, give and it will be given to you in greater measure" the law does not have this principle. it says to not bear grudges and things, but theres no principle that says the way you are to others, is what you will receive. Jesus clearly is teaching this principle several times. the doctrine is perfect for us who are imperfect and it allows the patience of God and His forebearance to wokr with us as we begin to repent and follow the light of Jesus an the gospel.
the moment we repent in our hearts and accept His doctrine, were in Christ, even when we fail, even when we see teachings that make us feel convicted and like we need to change something in our life, we have to keep the things he said in us and trust that its true. His words are active they discern us inwardly. if oiur problem is lust, well notice His teachings about ridding our lives of it. and well at first feel conviction and even a bit of sorrow, if we just keep pressing forward in faith strength happens even when were stumbling in His doctrine, we can never forget His grace to us that even when we are walking in faith, we may stumble and begin to sink into the waves, but like peter as we follow we can still call out " Lord save me im sinking" and He will always answer ans set us back in the boat. the law we could call out " im sorry for my adultery or my false witness against that other guy"......and if there are 2 or 3 who witness against us, who sa the act or heard us admoit it, theres no repreve for the sinner. Jesus embraces them and teaches them the truth of Gods Word. 2 different doctrines
Judiasm, is the same today as then minus all of the sacrifice laws because there is no temple or altar hasnt been for 2000 years. christianity needs no temple to operate because we are the temple of God, as Jesus was His temple, so are we who have received the holy spirit. 2 differing religions one springs from the promises ofthe other.
