the Law of moses, is called the Law of Moses and is seperate from the Gospel to me, because
( God speaks the ten commandments)
exodus 20 " And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. 19And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.......v21And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was."
God tells moses what to tell them, and then alot of folks miss that He says this
Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. 21Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. 22But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries...."
then after all this God stops and says ....
exodus 32 " And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: 8They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: ( the ten commandments) they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 9And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: 10Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
( this is Gods Judgement on the people and rightly so he just delivered them and made them wonderful promises and they were praiseing a golden calf for delivering them from egypt, after he had given moses the commandments this because the people feared His speaking to them they asked that moses mediate and God only speak to Him so God gave them the ten commandments His words and Work of His finger....but moses intercedes)
11And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? 12Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people. ( moses says this to God)13Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever. 14And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
( then moses goes down and judges them after God relents using Gods authority see, moses saved them God had decided to destroy them and then bless Moses and make Him a great nation continuing abrahams blessing but he pleads with God or " intercedes for God to have mercy, and not let the egyptians speak against God saying he saved them from us to destroy them and God responds in kind)
15And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. 16And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. ....
19And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount. 20And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.
( God knew what they were doing, moses didnt, when He saw, then like God, His anger waxed hot because he now sees what they have done and He judges them)
21And Moses said unto Aaron, ( aaron is the High priest remember ) What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them? 22And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief. 23For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. 24And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf. ( the High priest, built the first Idol)
25And when Moses saw that the people were naked; 26Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him. ( the priests line) 27And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.
28And the children of Levi( the priests) did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men. 29For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day."
then moses intercedes again for the people with God
30And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin. 31And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. 32Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin?; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. <<< he is offering his own self, for the people who had sinned
33And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. 34Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: ( he says again ) behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: >>nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them. 35And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made."
this is why the Law of Moses is the Law of Moses. Moses was thier intercessor, so He had authority over them, and He was the One communing with the Lord, not the people. the Gospel, God comes and does everything necassary for us to come close and have a relationship with Him, to talk with Him in prayer, the promisethat He is with us by His spirit, in us, with us personally. he hears us when we pray because he is with us the Holy spirit is of Him, part of God who is spirit.
Jesus says this to those who had thier hopes in the law of moses an thus refused His teachings, and it makes sense to me
Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. 46For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.( deuteronomy 18:15-18) 47But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?"
deauteronomy 31:26 "Take this book of the law, and put it at the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee."
The law is an accuser against what you have done, this is one of moses last commands before he dies. it is a good holy Law, for a hardened isolatrous, rebellious people who had no access to the holy spirit. its for those without the spirit. the Gospel is the doctrine of the spirit.
john 14:26 " But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
Moses had the authority over those of the law because he interceeded for them, and mediated between God and them, and pleaded for them, several more times this same thing, moses intercedes for the people and God punishes and then spares them. Jesus Christ is far Greater than Moses, and He is Our intercessor, and He is Our mediator, His Words are the Words of God, for those of the Holy spirit.
God Bless you in abundance !
