This chat board and a specific thread on this chat board show there is no tolerance for anything but what an INDIVIDUAL or GROUP believes.
I hear a lot of people talking about agreeing on the non-essentials, yet I never have witnessed it on this board anywhere.
Discussion threads seem to be limited to gifts, tongues, salvation and Bible version.
A unified non-sectarian approach to the issue of Bible translation/Version would be this.
"I believe that only the AKJV 1611 is the only word of God, yet others are welcome to use what they believe."
"But me and my house we will use the AKJV 1611.
1/4 of the threads would disappear over night.
There seem to be no unity here and is just a representation of the real Church world. There is thread about tongues and many in that thread say the evidence of being Holy Spirit filled is speaking in other tongues. I posted that I disagreed, because I see that Love and the other fruit of the Spirit growing in our hearts and the power to witness are the evidences of being Holy Spirit filled.
I was told my Gospel was false, I am a heretic and probably not saved, all because anyone really knows that tongues is the true evidence of being Holy Spirit filled. I used to think this way, but the Holy Spirit showed me the truth. No man can take away what the Holy Spirit shows me, so it is fruitless to debate people.
It is not just doctrine that splits us, it is anything and everything else. The proper unified non-sectarian approach to the issue would have been for that poster to say, we disagree but glad you are still saved my brother, because that is truly what matters. Another 1/4 of the threads would disappear. It seems to me people can have different interpretation of different things in the Bible and still agree on Jesus Christ and him crucified, buried, resurrected and sitting a the right hand. Yet many believe if you do not see it all the SAME way, then your foundation is sand and feel the need to teach you. HAHAHAHA! whatever.
As another poster said on this thread. The Gospel is really the only thing that should unite us. That is true.
I have been here a very short time and honestly, if what I witness on the BDF part of this site is how people represent Christ in real life, I would not want to fellowship with very many, if at all.
