A trip to the grave will solve the sin issue if repenting is not in the cards.

Job:14:14-17:
If a man die,
shall he live again?
all the days of my appointed time will I wait,
till my change come.
Thou shalt call,
and I will answer thee:
thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
For now thou numberest my steps:
dost thou not watch over my sin?
My transgression is sealed up in a bag,
and thou sewest up mine iniquity.

It's about as outlandish as saying that I'm "Sovereign grace" and "Preacher 4 truth" is "Bill g",though quite amusing....
I've just seen this.
Of course p4t and I are not the same person.

I'm handsome.

You are right in one aspect. The people of that day thought that the scribes and pharisees righteousness was the top of the line righteousness. In that respect, you are right.

However, Jesus came and pretty much crushed the mighty scribes and pharisees bubble and it is he that said, "unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and the pharisees, you will in no case enter into the KOH.
I think I agree here, He did crush them, and everyone who thought that they could get to heaven by how good they are. But setting the standard at a point that is unattainable (actually the law did that,. But they did not get it/.

But I know there is a BUT coming

To you, Paul seems to put little value in living righteously, but Jesus obviously does.
Aww, I should have known. You know all about me, even though you never met me, and based on one post. You know exactly what I think.. Whatever dude, Your not God, You know nothing about me,

And your wrong. Paul placed as much value on living in the spirit and obedience that Christ did, However, Unlike you, They place obedience in perspective, as Jesus was trying to do in this passage, in which you missed the point completely.

It is Jesus that tells us that our righteousness must exceed the righteousness of the scribes and pharisees or we are not getting into the KOH. You can twist that verbiage all you want, but it stands as a testimony to live a righteous life.
Well I do not know. Only Jesus righteousness ever exceeded theirs,. Because if anyone’s ever did, They would not need the cross. They have saved themselves. I guess jesus died for those of us who could not make that great leap?

Here is the fact. Moses demanded by God (and paul confirmed this in Gal 3) that according to the law. We have to CONFIRM every word of the law (every jot and tittle you could say) and OBEY every word, ore else you are under a curse.

If you sinned once, You failed to live up to the standard as set by God, James confirmed this when he said we can live our whole lives and obey every word to the letter. But if we fail in one point, we are guilty of the whole law.

Have you lived up to Gods standard? If you sinned once, You failed. Good luck trying to remove the curse from yourself.

Isn't that what being saved is all about? A new heart is placed in the old man? Do you think that new heart will lead to sin?
No, if you are really saved, it will lead to increased faithful righteousness. So Jesus has a point, don't you think?
1. Being saved is about having the curse of the law removed so we can get to heaven, Because we have sinned and fall short. Your talking about sanctification, which is not the topic of this thread.
2. John said whoever has been born of God can not sin, whoever sins has never seen or known God. But that is not the point of this thread. This thread is about those trying to save themselves by producing works worthy of earning Gods gift of eternal life (you can not earn a gift by the way, It is freely given, paid for by the giver. In Christianity, the term used for our debt being paid is redemption. He redeemed us from the curse of the law having become a curse for us.

Job was not taught about the 1,000 year reign, his version asks that 'all wrath be past' before he is woken up. I wonder how he will feel about seeing Satan punished and thrown into the fiery lake?

please dont be mad everyone

heres one more bump for ben
Then why did Jesus even bother with the sermon on the mount?

Then why did Jesus even bother telling us to repent?

Then why did Jesus even bother telling us to be baptized?

If all there is, is I believe, I am saved, and now I can go back to being a couch potato. What's the reason to live any more?

I would lay odds he will rejoice.....and regardless....the last day is the day of the resurrection as evidenced by JESUS :)

Ben, I think you may be confused my friend

We are discussing how one is saved, Not the results of salvation.

That would be another thread.
