You know, I'm talking about the type of guy that's good computers, likes video games, and programming, stuff like that.

Hmm it depends on the girl. Personally I have had crushes on computer geeks in the past. I myself on some level can be... BUt I do think they're life cant be completely consumed by hte computer or video games. If its something you guys can do together on a date or hanging out ok, lol but dont make your date just watch play for hours at least on a consistent basis, (cause it is fun to watch on occasion).

If you enjoy it, then there has to be another girl out there that enjoys it too! As sporty said though... just don't be completely consumed by it. That's about it. There's nothing wrong with liking computers and video games and stuff though! I think every guy does deep down, even if they don't admit their closet nerdiness haha.

though to the OP you are posting in a rather biased place. If a girl is already surfing forums on a regular basis chances are she is a little bit of a geek herself. Which personally i find awesome.

Now THIS is what I admire so much about DABEARS--he's so dang subtle that sometimes I have a very hard time deciphering what he may be implying!!!!

HA HA HA--you know I'm kidding, DB... All I can say is, if you ever try to fix me up with someone here... well... at least I won't have to guess at what's going on!!!

I really liked Shard's observation, though I have to confess that I am in NO way a techie person at all and I am actually praying that the person God has for me will have the ability with machines, electronics, and doo-dads that I seem to have been born without.

However, I was hoping for another option in this poll that went something like, "Yes, (I'd be attracted to a computer geek) but it depends."

For instance, if I felt the only way I could speak to him is to verbally communicate my thoughts to him in binary code, that might be veering a bit too much into left field for me (or wherever the closest wireless connection may be.)

If the only way I could get him to talk to me was to send him an email and wait for a reply (I would have NO problems with it it if were a PART of how we communicated, not THE sole or primary way in which we talked), I would have to decline.

Computer guys can be great, like any other "type" of guy. I've written about this before, but my younger brother now has every (techie) guy's dream job--he designs video games for the X-Box for a living... and yes, he told me he can get me discounts. (Hmm... am wondering if I can use this as bait for any potential dates... JUST KIDDING!!!) AND, my brother never even finished his college degree (he's one calculus class short of a BA.)

When he found out he got the job, he laughed and said, in a good-natured manner, "Remember all those times Dad told me I couldn't make anything of my life by sitting around and playing video games??!!"

But, it's taken him well over 10 years at this company alone to get there, and, he's a very well-rounded person. His other interests include music, art, science, animated movies (he'll be the first in line to see a Pixar film), travel, culture, cooking, woodworking, etc.

In other words... he can talk about a lot more than just computers and that's something I'd hope for in a potential significant other as well. :)

I thought the same when I read the post!

I'm sure there are girls out there that like computer stuff, just don't overwhelmed them with it, plus there's so much more in a man than his hobbies or job, don't focus all your attention on it, thought it can be a bridge to get you to the other side, where you want to be.

I'm more a fan of intellectual nerds myself, but I have some friends that love the whole geek thing. Computer nerds are cool. The whole gamer thing, I'm not a fan of. I don't mind guys who play games, but when they become obsessed with the game, it's kinda annoying.

I’ts not a big deal but I like computer geek guys too, since I’m in the networking field also, my first course was programming but did not finish it , I shifted to business course but then again shifted to communication arts:D but then my job was related to my first course, lol. I don't know how I got to this but I enjoy also learning technical stuff.

This is pretty much what I was going to say. To some extent, being extremely knowledgeable about computers shows that a guy is intelligent. And, as DABEARS said, there are girls out there who enjoy video games. I have played video games since I was 6 years old, and my favorite series is the Legend of Zelda. However, I find it unattractive if it consumes a guy's life. There's a huge world outside of video games, outside of the computer, outside of the internet. And, I think any guy who spent all of their time on the computer playing video games would remind me far too much of my little brother, who does the same.

I wouldn't worry about your hobbies and interests, because there are girls out there who share them. But, it's all a matter of priorities. A guy could have the same problem with watching too many sports. A girl could have this problem with spending too much time shopping. The thing you devote the most time to can quite easily become an idol in your life. And, beyond that, when anyone is super-absorbed and focused on something that, by comparison, seems very unimportant and possibly shallow, it is not likely to attract the kind of girl (or guy, referring to the ladies) that you're interested in. Life is about balance.

I can't say that all girls like guys that are computer geeks, but everyone has different tastes. Not every girl likes a guy who's rugged and outdoorsy and likes things like camping and hunting and fishing. See, that would bore me to tears. I'd have more in common with a guy who likes to read and who is interested in current events, who has a similar taste in movies and music, even if we don't share everything in common. Now, see, I have a friend who is a tomboy. A very pretty, very feminine tomboy (I know that doesn't make sense). She would probably be bored with someone like I just described, because it just doesn't suit her personality. But find her someone who loves to go hiking and fishing and be active, and she'd be interested. There are girls out there who love computers and video games. Just remember that everyone is different.

I concur with rush.

And computer geeks tend to know how to fix electronics in general... big plus.

AND if they can fix those, then they tend to enjoy fixing cars/ovens/AC boxes/fuzes... MAJOR plus.

I need one of those... or I need to take more classes...

Christianguru is supposed to be finding my man. Add that to the list. Get to it! I'm waiting....
