Heb 4:1-3

1) Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us (the people of the writers day and us) of entering into his rest (the Gospel), any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel (His Rest) preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest (His Rest; the Gospel), as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest (the Gospel; the rest we have when Christ Jesus is our Life): although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. (the Gospel Rest has been available since Eden)

Verses 1 and 2 draw them together. The Gospel rest which is found in Christ Jesus.
so dear,

do do you mean when Gospel enter in our heart, we have rest?

Do you read a copy from LB statement? He say God is our spiritual rest.
i do not know what to say dear, you deny that, I give you a copy.
The Gospel rest is different to the Sabbath commandment rest dear but are linked together. The Gospel rest is also in Hebrews 4. and Matt 11:28 and is BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God's WORD.

You cannot enter God's Sabbath rest unless you enter his Gospel rest which is BELIEVING and FOLLOWING his WORD. Together these cannot be separated. More scriptures already posted to you here dear. Try reading what he is posting to you.

ISAIAH; 58; 13-14; If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasures on my holy day;and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable;and shalt honor him,not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words. 14; Then shall thou delight thyself in the Lord, and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places ofthe earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father; for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.. ..................(The problem of people keeping the sabbath is because from their youth, they have inherited the doctrine of men, and not of God.

GREEN:
I was re-reading a book a couple of days ago written by two Jewish gentlemen called Bivin and Blizzard entitled "Understanding the Difficult Words of Jesus (Yahshua)" in which they explained the Messiah's words when he said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." We know the Scribes and Pharisees were adept at corrupting the law, and this is how Bivin and Blizzard explained what Jesus meant when he said he came to fulfill the law, which he did in two ways. First by fulfilling the words of the Old Testament prophets, and second by correctly interpreting the law:-

"When Jesus said this he was using a familiar phrase that was easily understood in Biblical days. What happened is that during rabbinical discussions when a rabbi felt that another colleague was wrong he would say "You are destroying the law" but other rabbis' who felt they were correctly interpreting Scripture would say they were "fulfilling the Law" i.e. they were correct. Jesus, being correct in his teaching could therefore say that, "he fulfilled the law." (Bivin and Blizzard)

So back to me. Jesus fulfilled the law in all respects both in words and in deed and as the commandments of Jesus are the correct interpretation of Old Testament law we should be following the commandments of Jesus and not the Old Testament laws that were codified many years after Moses and are not be all they should be.
fascinating idea there

so, it's not enough to use just the definitions of words

things like idiom and common usage are just as important

NOUN

ordinances (plural noun)

The law under which we are found guilty has been blotted out. Removed. No longer can we be found guilty under the law.

We are REDEEMED by the blood of the lamb.
Redeemed to WHAT ? to continue in SIN ? Rom 6.

It is Sin that got man into trouble in the first place by transgressing God's command Gen 2v16,17.
But we are now redeemed and given a chance to 'sin no more - not transgress God's command any more 1Joh 3v4.

Yes. They give examples of various idioms that were well known I Christ's day but not so well known today. It is very informative, although there are not very many.

We are redeemed from the penalty of sin. Set free, bought with a price.

Jesus suffered death in our place by which means he conquered death, so enabling us to have eternal life.

If he doesn't like your answer, he will claim you haven't answered. If you cite scripture he will post a page of unrelated scripture to obfuscate the truth. There is no way to persuade him of anything. He is thoroughly brainwashed!
i am interested in seeing how it turns out

let us all be like these folks
Acts 17: 11. Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of the mind, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

You have not been redeemed from the penalty of SIN, if you are continuing in it. All who continue in SIN are guilty of breaking God's LAW therefore "UNDER THE LAW" guilty before God of SIN.

ROMANS 3 [19], Now we know that whatsoever things the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. [20], Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4) Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12).

If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

You are under the law, so stop your mouth and do as you should on your sabbath and take a rest. Permanently.

The next verse says,
For no one is put right in God's sight by doing what the Law requires; what the Law does is to make us know that we have sinned. (Rom 3:20)

You are still under law and therefore a sinner.

That is not true PS to be "UNDER THE LAW" as shown above, means to be guilty before God of breaking it.

Only those who BREAK God's LAW are "UNDER THE LAW"

God's LAW shows what sin is and if you break it you are "UNDER THE LAW" guilty before God of breaking it.

Dan,

Rambam is an affectionate reference to Moses Maiomonides, a thirteenth century Rabbi and Talmudic Scholar.
yes, a really smart guy and a highly respected scholar

i believe he used a particular set of standards and arrived at 613

different standards will produce a different number, he'd probably be the first to agree with that imo

And as everyone is guilty under the law we need a Saviour who destroyed the handwriting of the ordinances, by nailing them to the cross.

I'm going. I cannot stand the burbling of someone who does not know what they are talking about. Anyway seeing as we are in New Covenant days, bring yourself up to speed and rest in the one whose burden is light.

"Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light."
