I believe in the inerrancy of the Bible. The New Testament is a first-hand contemporary account and the inclusion of both good and bad deeds in the Old Testament is evidence of a truthful and honest account. On reflection I would like to withdraw any comments I may have said to the contrary.
nothing wrong with changing your mind, if that's what you're saying

so this part here
does the true God least the Israelites to do this

Joshua 6: 21. They utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, and sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword.

Basically GOD spoke the 10 personally to the people and added NO more Deut 5v22 ....
why not also add all the other 600/or so if they all go together ??????
the 10 teach us love to God and neighbour, why should they be abolished ?????
are you saying that God did end every law in the ot except the 10c?

Everything made of silver, gold, bronze, or iron is set apart for the LORD. It is to be put in the LORD's treasury." So the priests blew the trumpets. As soon as the people heard it, they gave a loud shout, and the walls collapsed. Then all the army went straight up the hill into the city and captured it. With their swords they killed everyone in the city, men and women, young and old. They also killed the cattle, sheep, and donkeys. (Jos 6:19-21)

What does God want with earthly Goods? NOTHING.

Would Jesus tell us to kill everyone in the city? NO.

Not the pre-incarnate Jesus.

However they did save Rahab and her family so that was good.

ok, and is the true God delivering people to death here, is Moses relaying God's message

Deuteronomy 7: 2. and when Yhwh your God shall deliver them up before you, and you shall strike them; then you shall utterly destroy them: you shall make no covenant with them, nor show mercy to them

No, God has other means. The way he brought them out of Egypt is an example. However God does use people despite what they do. Rahab was brought out safely for example and Judas was instrumental in Christ's death, so God does intervene in man's affairs where necessary.

My own thoughts are that the Almighty is able to have led them into the land peacefully and without bloodshed, the crossing of the Red Sea is an example of how God works. And if they had been following the true God, they would not have been left wandering in the wilderness for forty years making burnt offerings to pagan gods, that the Almighty despises.

Forget Old Testament law, we are in a new dispensation.
Dispensationalist view is flawed. Here is Jesus commenting on the law. Methinks I believe Jesus over you!!!

Matthew 5:13 to 20 NIV
Jesus saying he came to fulfill the law and the prophets.

Salt and Light
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

The Fulfillment of the Law
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

I suggest you reread Exodus. They fought battles while they were forced to wander 40 years in the wilderness. All men except Moses and Joshua died there. At that point God allowed them to enter the promised land. Even entering it and taking it was war. First battle was Jericho. They were commanded to kill all people there. They were tricked into allowing one group to live and paid a price for that in the following centuries.

Yes, Jesus fulfilled Old Testament law. Believe him.
I believe him and that includes his statement that the law is in place until heaven and earth disappear.

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. (Jud 1:9 KJV)

Battles, bloodshed, banishment from the promised land, including heaven, are all things that happen when we reject the Saviour and consort with the devil.

What new law?
Jesus said the law is in force until heaven and earth disappear.
We all sin.
Sin is transgression of that law.
The wages of sin is death
God gave us grace so everyone who accepts Jesus has that penalty removed from them.

Before Jesus it was accomplished with animal sacrifices but Jesus became the Lamb of God for our sins. This doesn't remove the law but only the penalty for those who accept Jesus.

We might be quibbling over semantics.

The law of Christ, then, is to love God with all of our being and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. In Mark 12:32–33, the scribe who asked Jesus the question responds with, “To love Him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” In this, Jesus and the scribe agreed that those two commands are the core of the entire Old Testament Law. All of the Old Testament Law can be placed in the categories of “loving God” or “loving your neighbor.”

Various New Testament scriptures state that Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament Law, bringing it to completion and conclusion (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23–25; Ephesians 2:15). In place of the Old Testament Law, Christians are to obey the law of Christ. Rather than trying to remember the over 600 individual commandments in the Old Testament Law, Christians are simply to focus on loving God and loving others. If Christians would truly and wholeheartedly obey those two commands, we would be fulfilling everything that God requires of us.

then
"you shall strike them; then you shall utterly destroy them"

is not a command from the true God

You are missing some basic truths Dan.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

It was this Word which created the OT. Why did He do it?

1 Cor. 10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Matt. 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

It was Jesus before He became Flesh that created these Spiritual examples for our admonition. They are Spiritual in nature and require a Spiritual understanding.

Joshua 6 is a wonderful story with amazing Spiritual significance. But this meaning isn't given to everybody as Jesus said.

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

I don't believe the Spiritual intent of the Joshua story is to paint the Word which became Flesh as an unjust God. But many on this forum do just that.

I have a completely different take on the significance of Jericho and the trumpets and the 7 days, and the "walls" that came tumbling down. Not one that paints the Word which became Flesh as an unjust God.
