Is speaking in "tongues" one of those signs?

What kind of Power are you referring to?

Do you let poisonous snakes bite you to "prove" you have the Holy spirit?

I know some folks do, so I was just wondering.
"Tongues" are NOT given to EVERYONE read the Scriptures I put in parens (I Corinthians 12:30).

"POWER" (Holy Spirit) that gives us the capability to perform MIRACULOUS actions (Mark 16:16-18; I Corinthians 12:8-10; Acts 1:8) when we are Holy Spirit baptized and makes us "born again" (John 3:5-7)!

It is saying that if you come in contact with "poisonous snakes" they won't harm you as did Paul in Acts 28:3!

No person in his right mind looks for "poisonous snakes!"

YES! But we "MUST" become "SAVED" like JESUS SAID without "ADDING" or "TAKING AWAY"

Water baptism ADDS!

Doing a communion ADDS!

Not having "SIGNS FOLLOWING" TAKES AWAY!

Not receiving "POWER" TAKES AWAY!
Sounds like a different gospel to me, I have not heard of, "Adding and taking away", before today.
I'm not against what you say, It is just something new to me. And where did Jesus say these things?

ohhh nooooo
....

:/

here is a bump...
No ""bump!" I Corinthians 12:29-30 says "Are all apostles, are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?" Therefore, not ALL have the same "Spiritual gifts" but I Corinthians 12:7 says "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to EVERY MAN to profit withal" to those who have been baptized "by one Spirit" (I Corinthians 12:13)!

I see I Corinthians Chapter 12 as the "By laws" of THE CHURCH who GOD "sets in THE CHURCH" (I Corinthians 12:28) as "members of the body of Christ" with at least "one Spiritual gift!"

Once we're baptized by the Holy Spirit "It is GOD who works in us" (Philippians 2:13) "Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world" (Titus 2:12).

Sounds like a different gospel to me, I have not heard of, "Adding and taking away", before today.
I'm not against what you say, It is just something new to me. And where did Jesus say these things?
"For I testify unto EVERY MAN that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If ANY MAN shall *ADD* unto these things, GOD shall *ADD* unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if ANY MAN shall *TAKE AWAY* from the words of the book of this prophecy, GOD shall *TAKE AWAY* HIS part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book" (Revelation 22:18-19).

When one "TAKES AWAY" what JESUS SAID to form *their* belief, they have "TAKEN AWAY" as in the case of Mark 16:16-20; I Corinthians 12:7-13 and Acts 1:5!

When one "ADDS" another baptism when JESUS SAID "one baptism" as in Ephesians 4:5, they are "ADDING!"

That's why you have to be VERY CAREFUL in your belief and make SURE you are of THE FAITH!

II Corinthians 13:5 says "Examine yourselves whether you be of THE FAITH..." and that's why I'm here to make SURE people "Examine their FAITH!"

It's not "another gospel" it is the "UNPERVERTED" GOSPEL OF CHRIST (Galatians 1:6-9) which is "THE GOSPEL OF SPIRIT" for "CHRIST IS SPIRIT" and it's all about CHRIST!

Romans 1:16 "For I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: FOR IT IS THE *POWER* OF GOD UNTO SALVATION..."

Blessings:)

Yes I believe you are a believer but remember in order to come in "by THE DOOR" (John 10:1) we MUST do as Jesus said (I John 2:3-5) to become "members of the body of Christ" and I Corinthians Chapter 12 is our "BY LAWS!"

Jesus commanded us to "Seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of GOD..." (Matthew 6:33) which is the Holy Spirit to be given the "POWER" (Acts 1:8) JESUS PROMISED. Once HE "dwells in you" (Romans 8:9;11) with "POWER" you will be able to do as JESUS PROMISED "IN HIS NAME cast out devils, lay hands on the sick and they will be healed..." JESUS wants us to be "WITNESSES FOR HIM" by displaying the "POWER" HE'S given us to change the world!

Blessings:)

May the Spirit of Truth deliver us from all lies from the enemy that we have believed to be true in our hearts and show us the Truth. May we have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying.

The only work required for the lost to be saved is to BELIEVE on the One the Father has sent to save us, which is Jesus Christ. Because of His great love for us, we in turn, also love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

However, there are works that follow salvation BUT are NOT required for salvation they are just simply the result of salvation.

To me, these works fall under the 3 Baptisms - Water, Holy Spirit, and Fire.

After we receive Jesus Christ we are saved.

Next, we are water baptized to signify that we consider our "old man" to be buried with Christ and raised to be a "new creation" IN Christ. Now, the life we live is no longer us but, Christ in us.

Next, baptism of the Holy Spirit - the Gift of the Holy Spirit - the Sealing of us with the Holy Spirit. The Power of God in us working mightily to do those things that witness and testify of Jesus Christ as Lord, our Lord - the Savior of the world.

Note: The Gentile house of Cornelius actually got the Holy Spirit Baptism first then, they were water baptized. So, these two baptisms have no specific order.

Now, we grow with the Word and the Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads us and guides us into all truth. Reveals the meaning of the scriptures, shows us secret manna - hidden truths in the Word of God. Cultivates the Fruit of the Spirit in us, until we can finally produce fruit in season and out of season - basically, love at all times. Lavishes upon us Gifts of the Spirit to edify and build up each other in the Body of Christ.

Last, baptism with Fire. Our faith, what we believe and everything we do for Christ will be tested. This is the race of faith we must run and finish our course, like Paul did. We hold on to our Faith in Christ and share it with others.

You'll know when you're in the Fire because all hell will break loose on you for no apparent reason! Satan desires to sift us like wheat, but Jesus has prayed for us that our faith will not fail us, and after we have been tested we will strengthen our brethren - just like Peter did.

The race of faith is just simply NOT going back to Egypt, but pressing on through the desert wilderness that is designed to kill our "flesh" carnality. Finally, the Promised Land - Heaven. Just as God was with the Israelites in their wilderness journey, He is also with us in ours.

Have peace, the most important work that God wants from us is to BELIEVE in Him and LOVE Him - both to be done with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength.

I know this is long, sorry. I hope it helped someone! :)

Believing in a water baptism that was "fulfilled" by JESUS (Acts 1:5) and done UNDER THE LAW (James 2:10) is NOT being IN CHRIST. We have to become "a member of the body of Christ" (I Corinthians 12:13) by Holy Spirit baptism which is the "one baptism" mentioned in Ephesians 4:5!

If you don't "come in at THE DOOR" (John 10:1) which means THE WAY Jesus said, you are like "a thief and a robber" to HIM!

Jesus said you would have "SIGNS FOLLOWING" (Mark 16:16-20) which are MIRACULOUS "Signs" and that we would receive "POWER" after Holy Spirit baptism (Acts 1:8) with "CONFORMATION!" Now that's "coming in at THE DOOR!"

Anyone who doesn't display what Jesus said we should have or try to enter "some other way" or LOST no matter what they believe!

Blessings

Let's make sure we are talking about the SAME THING, when you mention the Baptism when the Holy Spirit IMMERSES us INTO THE SPIRITUAL BODY OF CHRIST.

Ephesians 4:4-5 (HCSB)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope at your calling—
[SUP]5 [/SUP] one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

1 Corinthians 12:13 (HCSB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

Colossians 1:18 (YLT)
[SUP]18 [/SUP] And himself is the head of the body--the assembly--who is a beginning, a first-born out of the dead, that he might become in all things --himself--first,

Even the Thief on the CROSS, was BAPTIZED into the Spiritual Body of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit.

Great post, dc!

I agree. While studying the scriptures, I was so excited when I began to see and understand that Jesus is the Human Fulfillment of the Law for me. He is my righteousness.

Jesus came to earth not just to die on the cross but also to fulfill all righteousness for all who would believe.

He was circumcised on the 8th day, about His Father's business at the age of 12, and began His ministry at age 30. Throughout His time on Earth, He was fulfilling all the Law and Prophets had said and spoken concerning the Messiah.

At the end of His 3 1/2 years of ministry, He went up to the mount of transfiguration where He was examined by the Law and The Prophets being Moses and Elijah. Jesus became transfigured because He passed His examination. He was now ready for His final Work to do - die on the cross, shed His blood as The Lamb of God for the remission of our sins.

He had fulfilled ALL the Works of the Law in His human body. Remember, John the Baptist didn't feel worthy to baptize Jesus and Jesus responded, "Suffer it to be, so that we might FULFILL ALL RIGHTEOUSNESS." Jesus got water baptized because we needed it. I don't completely understand, but somehow, everything we do - our "works" are recorded in our bodies. Jesus was recording in His Body ALL the Works of the Law as The Gift of Righteousness for us! All our "works" recorded in our bodies is "filthy rags of righteousness."

We needed more than His Blood, we needed His Righteousness, too, because even after His Blood cleanses us from our sins, the Law still MUST be fulfilled which we could NEVER do. So, Jesus did BOTH for us!

His Body is the Bread - His Human Fulfillment of Righteousness for us!
His Blood is the Wine - His Human Fulfillment for the penalty of sin!

Jesus Christ, our Savior, Lord and King be forever praised! Hallelujah! Amen.
Amen......thank God for his plan of eternal redemption found in Christ!
