This is how I feel....Jesus came and died on the cross.....if you can get saved and then it be taken away, then how do you know when you truly are or not??? You will always have doubt and doubt is not from the Lord, for he is peace!.....God knows that we are sinners and that we are going to fall, and scriptures say, that he never leaves us.
yes, the Word says He never leaves us.. but we can leave Him, when we continue in sin, or fall away from false doctrine
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD. Do you think when we get saved, and we fall, that God is going to take back his gift? What is he going to do? give it and take it, give it and take it???? LOL no!!!!!
not entirely true... we forfeit what He has given us freely. we forfeit it by our own actions (Hebrews 6:1-6, Hebrews 10:25-26, 1 Corinthians 9:26-27, Revelation 2-3)
Jesus died a gruesome death for us, not to always worry if we are saved or not, thats what forgivness and being washed is for. We are made new!!!! If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and repent then we are saved!!!! We are made new, we are born again. What do we do, keep getting reborn????
no, we dont keep being "reborn"... when we turn away completely, we spiritually die, just like King Saul and Demas did
It also says that we are written in the book of life........well, im sure Gods not there with a big ole eraser all the time!!!! or white out!!!!! lol
Revelation 2:8-10
8 “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write,
‘These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life:
9 “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days.
Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
11 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.”’
if we are once saved always saved, there is no reason to be faithful or to overcome, for once we're saved, we're always saved, and no sin, no matter how big or small, not even the unforgivable sin, can separate us from God!... or... we are kept through faith (1 Peter 1:5), we are saved by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8), and only through abiding in Christ (John 15:1-6) do we have life (1 John 5:12)
1 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write,
‘These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.
2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.
3
Remember therefore how you have received and heard;
hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.
4 You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.
5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
6 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’
according to OSAS, this church is not dead, for one can NEVER lose their salvation!
according to v5, only those who overcome in this dead church will God not blot out their name... but also issues a warning, that if they continue, their names WILL be blotted out
Romans 11:19-24
19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.”
20 Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith.
Do not be haughty, but fear.
21
For if God did not spare the natural branches,
He may not spare you either.
22
Therefore consider the
goodness and
severity of God:
on those who fell,
severity;
but toward you,
goodness if you continue in His goodness.
Otherwise you also will be cut off.
23
And they also,
if they do not continue in unbelief,
will be grafted in, for
God is able to graft them in again.
24 For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?
these verses weigh heavily on the doctrine of OSAS. v5 is not talking about people who were once Christians. This verse is talking about grafting the Jews back into the Israel of God, the Church, the Bride of Christ
our salvation is in Christ and only in Christ, and no one else. our salvation comes by continually abiding in Christ, and in Christ alone.
