Is it possible to institute an in room ignore of a person to match the pm ignore that stays in the memory every time you log on. There are some people I just do not like hearing or watching type. I know if I don't like it I can leave if they are there and I usually do. But if they are on 7 days a week at the same times it gets kind of aggravating.
Just a thought..

I know this has been brought up before. I support the idea, but it seems one they aren't too keen on implementing. So far i think the only answer i've heard as to why they won't is the mic. To ignore someones typing, you would also likely want to ignore their mic chatter. But since that would make it harder to coordinate chats with some people not hearing a person or people, and then if you have a mic chatter on ignore how does it work if you both go for the mic, etc.. Which stinks thats the reason since i don't mic chat except in small rooms with friends, and i don't usually even have sound on to hear other chatters.

Maybe just text ignore, because you can always turn sound down on mic. :D

there are other chats with text ignore, and it is sometimes a very good way of keeping people from starting unnecessary arguments

Yes.. I have suggested this to the mods on numerous occasions. An ignore user function would be a great tool. It would eliminate a lot of drama and help keep out the trolls.

Its the nature of the beast I suppose my brother. But Im sure you've already considered this. It is what it is; an internet chat room where all types come in; quite a few that you may or may not like. I honestly think that the only option you truly have is the one you've already ascribed to..log out when they come in...its either that or figure out someway to love them.

I too have seen Chat Set ups where you can ignore any data that comes from a certain person entirely and I think even if u can get the text part done the newer troll/ troublemakers usually are typers. Just trying a preemptive strike to arguement and discord. I dont see any negativity in it. I am totally against the voting people out of the room. I think this puts more control in the hands of the users and lets them tweak the features how they like them instead of blanket witch hunts. :D

...and why should any of us have to log out we WE are behaving ourselves follwing the rules. If everyone could just put the trolls on ignore, then they would have no more reason to come here

so mister bjorn guess i need to cosider u as trouble maker , since u type here , right ? ppl come here with dif back ground and it will be nice if Christians will show little more of Gods love to ppl and try to understand them ... if u cant do it , then do not chat ...

The problem is that some will provoke for the sake of provoking, and the mods will not always be present.

If the others ignore the troll, they can report him, rather than getting infractions themselves because they got too provoked and retorted.

ok now ... if u dont want to be provokt then u wont and if u all for it then u get want u asked for .....and u talk here about "troublemakers "and trolls ... i think this two names has dif defenision or im wrong ? so , i think better watch how we act towards others ... cuz our attitude has influence will others will change or will stay the same ....

well, I am never in chat. However I moderate another chat, and I can assure you in room ignore saves us from lots of work, simply because not all are able to not let themselves get provoked. we are different. You might be a very calm person, but not all are.

Here's the problem with an in chat ignore option for mic.

Let's say Person A wants to ignore Person B, but no one else is ignoring person B. Well let's say person B is talking on the mic, and Person A wants to talk on the mic too? Well if Person A is ignoring Person B, they'll be trying to grab the mic as person B is talking, because they have him on ignore and cant see that they have the mic.

I noticed this years ago on Yahoo chat. It makes for a very sloppy chat experience because people try grabbing the mic while people they are ignoring are also talking.

Or, just learn to live with what is available to you. There are a handful of people that annoy me in chat from time to time, but I've never opted in for a restructured chat room simply because I don't get along with everyone.

If only this was a more personal means of fellowship; then a plastic bubble might solve your social problems. :p

wouldn't it still show that a person is talking? ie: show the name of the one talking but not have sound?

It could probably be done that way, but most chat apps I've seen with this function have the user totally disappearing to those ignoring them.
