I used to love hot chocolate when I lived back east where winter would almost always be bitterly cold and I spent my share of time shoveling snow off of driveways and walkways. Now I live where its around 75 degrees and sunny during the holidays so hot chocolate isn't too popular around here and I haven't had egg nog in years, but I do like it. So I guess my drink of choice for the holidays now is probably root beer.

Mmmmm...hot chocolate...

Oh sugar cut out cookies are delicious! My kids love baking and then decorating them. They make such a mess.lol
Ours has to have tons of red hots on them though. This isn't my cookies because mine would be messier with about 8 red hots on each.:)

So, I'm just curious, do you drink the mexican hot chocolate with cinnamon, or american hot chocolate?

In Mexico almost everyone drinks Chocolate Abuelita :) It's the tradition! I think I haven't even tried a different one so I don't even know what American hot chocolate is haha. This is Abuelita and it does contain cinnamon I think:

So...I know what the Mexican style is. What's the American style for hot chocolate? They use High Fructose Corn Syrup instead of sugar :p ?

Out of curiosity I compared the ingredients of Little Granny's with Carnation and was shocked. Abuelita's list of ingredients is less than half that of Carnation since it doesn't have all the extra chemicals added. I may have to look for it in one of the local Mexican groceries.

You won't regret it :) I don't know if they have Northgate markets where you live, that's where we get it here in California.

Eggnog AND hotchocolate together. Or steamed eggnog, maybe with some espresso, OR- eggnog and gingerale. Yum.

I don't drink alcohol so hot chocolate it is. Btw here they call eggnog 'advocaat' and only my granny drinks it, usually with loads of whipped cream. :D

I used to live in a city everyone in the area called little mexico because over half the population was mexican (very odd for michigan) and they had two mexican stores there that sold Abuelita, that's actually what I was referring to, so awesome.

American is kind of the same thing without all the spice in it, just the chocolate. Abuelita has a lot more flavor.

In appreciation of my Very-NorthernAmerican friends, that is, Americans, I will try a different hot chocolate that is not Abuelita.

Yum, abuelita or champurrado with churros.

Mayan hot chocolate is also very delicious, it has cayenne pepper and cinnamon.

I love hot chocolate, and can't stand egg nog, so Hot chocolate it is.

When I was a little girl, there was this lady who use to make special treats for everyone in the church. Things in the box were fudge, divinity, peanut brittle, and zucchini cake and the most scrumptious Apple cake. I'm sure their were other treats, but I really don't remember.

Anyway, since my birthday was somewhere near that time, (can't believe I'm saying that), my mom would always ask me what kind of cake I wanted for my birthday. One year I simply stated that I wanted Theresa's apple cake. (I'm telling you it was the best thing ever, even better then German Chocolate Cake.) And ever since, until she no longer could cook, she would always make me an apple cake for my birthday, as well as one for the entire family to share for Christmas. But sadly, she never gave her recipe to anyone, and so the it died with her. But I'm determined to find the secret of her cake.
