A good friend of mine once told me that if I am a born-again Christian/Saved I should really pray about being baptized. I told him that I was baptized already when I was 5 years old. He said that once we are saved we are suppose to be baptized again. Can someone please shed more light on this subject, perhaps with some biblical refrences? Please!

God bless you all!

There is only one Baptism, and that is into Christ, this is not something we can do, it is something He does.

Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

I have nothing against Water Baptism, but that is not what is meant to The New Covenant Believers.
Water Baptism, is a type or shadow, of being Washed into the Water of The Word.

Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

I would suggest Praying about The Baptism in Christ by The Spirit.

God Bless

As our holy fathers of our Holy Church written in the Nicene Creed(exposing of the Faith):
"I confess one baptizing for remission of sins...."
there are no any second baptizing, nor u can find it in the Bible. Also u wont find nowhere in the Bible that anyone claimed "I am saved" but "We r saving our souls by doing this or that".Saving is continual work, until we die. Then we step in front of God who is only Judge.

If you've already been baptised using water and the Word, you don't need to be baptised again. It would be a good idea to share your testimony or something at your church though, to publicly declare your faith to the Body of Christ to encourage and challenge them in their own walk with God.

Well Christ himself was Baptized and He is The Teacher, and our Saviour . He was 30 years old when He was baptized by John the baptist. When you were young you likely might not have been fully aware of what it all meant . So I say its better to be baptized at a older age, There would be nothing wrong with doing it again.

Matthew 3:13-17

King James Version (KJV)

13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased

Matthew 28 Christ says to do this

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son , and of the Holy Spirit:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Not only this but many times all through out the scriptures its recorded the d apostles disciples being baptized and baptizing.

Acts 8:

6 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

Baptism is something we do to publicly declare that we believe that Christ died and rose from the dead. That is what the act of baptism symbolizes . It's also a personal things between you and God and its documenting to Him, by the way He does things, that you are a Christian and you have faith. So I would not get caught up in he said she said. Because at the end of the Day Christ said to do it, and the scriptures record it being done. So better to stick with Christ say on it rather then unverified information heard from rumor.

I think believing that you need to be baptised again though, implies that you don't think Christ's sacrifice is enough to wash you clean of all your past, present and future sins, for all time. His atonement was sufficient!

It includes Bible citations. I rarely find success with telling someone to 'go read the Bible'. The answers might be there, but without the Grace of God few men would ever see them.

With water? .. No.

'My kingdom is not of this world'.

Baptism is a symbol of what happens within a person. Like circumcision.

The act by itself means nothing. But what water baptism is supposed to represent is what is important.

Act 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
Act 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

To be baptized is always an edifying experience, and it promotes unity when it's truly unto death of the flesh. Solitude is the next step after baptism. If you've been baptized, be baptized by the Word of God while in solitude next (I recommend at least 7 days).

If we really understand the example of Jesus, we'll not skip this part:

Mar 1:9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
Mar 1:10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
Mar 1:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Mar 1:12 And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.
Mar 1:13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

Many churches today take great issue over the form of baptism, call it the first act of obedience or whatever, but rob it of all spiritual significance. Baptism is not just as busy work for the church, it actually does something in the spiritual world . . .

1Peter 3:21 "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ."

Throughout the New Testament, belief and baptism are never spoken of as separate acts performed at different times, but linked together like this: "believe and be baptized!" Over and over again that is what we read. Not because of baptismal regeneration surely, we are saved by grace through faith alone, so why the command to get baptized right away? Because baptism gives the new believer a clear conscience toward God for those sins committed prior to salvation! Thus, Satan no longer has access to attack through those sins now buried at the Cross. So in my humble opinion, if you have not been baptized since you came to the Lord, you should be.

Baptism is not just symbolic, brother, the ordinances are a lot more than acts of obedience or busy work for the church. They actually influence what happens to a new believer's spirit in the spiritual world.

Baptism is something done with faith (in Jesus) and repentance. Otherwise it's meaningless. So yes now that you're a true believer you should be baptized. This time it will be a real baptism. :)

But wait, you didn't actually say that you are now a born again believer. Are you?

Mat 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Joh_14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments.

I would be baptized again because this time it is a choice as the result of your new life in Christ. It doesn't save you, but it will confirm in your mind that you fulfilled the words of Jesus, "If you love me, Keep My commandments." There will be no more question.

If you were once orderly baptized with trinitarian formula, then NO.

Acts.16

[14] And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
[15] And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.

Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

He is The One who baptizes,

Water was a type or shadow of that which was to come.
He is The Living Waters.

There is ONLY ONE Baptism.

Jesus fulfilled All Righteousness, when He was baptized in water or have you not understood this?

Mat 3:14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
Mat 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

All things have their Fulfillment in HIM.

When someone is Baptized in His Name, it means they are Baptized in His Nature/Name
on'-om-ah
From a presumed derivative of the base of G1097 (compare G3685); a “name” (literally or figuratively), (authority, character): - called, (+ sur-) name (-d).

If you have accepted the birth, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Christ, then you have also been baptized by the Holy Spirit of The Father. What can man do to match this. All that man can offer is the love of God, in the form of true doctrine.
