i guess i would lean toward not playing them because thats 2 hours you take to not serve the Lord or pray. Also games or portraying things God hates, like violence.

I think those series are lame. They get boring really quick. I play video games, not as often as I used to, but I do love a good game. I have games that make me cry and laugh and for anyone who says that video games are evil, if you watch movies and read books it's the same thing. A game is just a story that you play through. I like old games like on the nintendo. I liked the final fantasy series. I have a game called lost odessey which is similar to that and it really teaches you a lot about death. Like things you could relate to people you know who've died or are dying or could die. And I like multiplayer fighting games and sports games. To answer the question though. I think playing video games is entertaining.

The biggest issue I see coming up in this thread in particular, is the attribution of demonic nature to these lifeless items of media. When we focus so much on crediting satan for things, it can become a sinful distraction from the opportunity to be examples of Christ. Similarly to that of video games, or GI joes, Barbies, pets, work, math, imaginary girlfriends..etc. If God is anything other than our primary concern, then we are astray and need to come back, regardless of the means.

As far as Assassins Creed is concerned, I've not played 3 yet, but there is a unique instance in the series. There are multiple tiers of storyline. Whereas the main overall storyline is goofy as no other with the alien race with the names of mythical gods and goddesses, as well as genetic memory, The sub storyline (at least from AC2- Revelations) is quite intriguing. Mostly due to the main character, Ezio Auditore. The biggest thing that grabs me though is the game play. No other game plays like it with the climbing up buildings and running across roof tops. It was lessened in Revelations admittedly due to the absurd complexity they added to the controls, and the closer relation of Ezio's storyline with the goofy main story. So I never finished that one as I lost interest. I enjoy Skyrim, and I love the storyline for the Halo series (up through Halo 3. Reach took a poo on the story, and Halo 4 went some awkward alternate universe direction. Both are good games in their own right though). I find COD incredibly boring, with exception to the Nazi Zombie mode, simply because of the arcade feel. All that said, I don't really play video games very often anymore. When I game, I labor, and there has to be a good reason for it. So if I already know the story, and that's what drew me to the game, I have no reason to play it. If it's game play that I found intriguing, then I might more often return to it. That's of course assuming that's what I want to do for recreation. I'm an old man now.

I'm going to assassinate you with Eve then.

Unless we midlane against each other. That would be bad for me.

I'm big into games. A kind of struggle for me at times is making sure I don't waste too much time on them. I am big into all sorts of games like the Halo series, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed, Battlefield 3, Minecraft, League of Legends, and Dance Dance Revolution. While I can have a lot of fun playing them, like I've seen in other posts, I'd much rather do things in which I'm interacting with other people if I have the opportunity to do so.

There's a lot of games out there I wouldn't play myself because I'm not into gore or anything like that, but I have nothing against people who do play them. The only objection I would have is if it became an addiction or started taking away from relationships...my favourite games to play are the "older" kind. Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong...those kinds :)

Oh my gosh yes!!! I had to be like 5 or 6 when I first played duck hunt. So nostalgic!! I played a lot of Mariokart and even managed to win the hardest difficulty on rainbow road, lol. I could probably add in Yoshi's Island to the mix.

I used to LOVE Yoshi's Island. I would probably still play it if I owned it. And Sonic the Hedgehog. Also, I don't think there is a Donkey Kong game I haven't played. I actually saw the game Duck Hunt in an antique shop a short while ago, amazingly enough. I unfortunately didn't have it that long because we got the Super Nintendo as soon as that came out.

Growing up I had a sega genesis, nintendo, and super nintendo. You keep reminding me of child hood games I used to play, lol. I had a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog games and thoroughly enjoyed them. It's crazy to think of how those things are antiques now... Gosh I'm getting old, lol.

Not been reading all of the posts, but I don't think playing a video game is less addictive than when most of you spend a lot of time on CC. ;) I remember once when joining the chatroom, I would log off, get back on next morning and see some of the same people having been awake whole night chatting.

So if joining a chatroom or forum can also make people addicted, why should playing a video game for some hours be a worser addiction? ;) :)

I try to avoid the terms "better" or "worse" when it comes to any addiction because it could be worse for the person, you never know... video games in general can be good or bad, depending on how you use them I guess =) They were good for my family because it bonded us closer together by just playing silly games together and having fun ^^

Indeed, I do agree about that too. I was mostly pointing to how a lot of people thinks of gaming as sinful and very bad for you. And then to be reminding about that forums, chatrooms, even tv'es too, can be equally addicting and bad for you. I am not against playing games, it is like any other enterntainment that people likes to do. Some enjoyes playing video games, others enjoyes more going to the theater, the movies, or watching movies at home... Anything could become addicting, also in a bad way.

Same as some women loves to go shopping a lot, we do have a term for someone being a "Shopaholic", too. ;) :)

Eve is pretty much either carrying the game via constant ganks and the ability to assassinate anyone or doing nothing due to being just short on damage to kill anyone. A little followup on her ganks and she's terrific, without it she's terrible. In many ways she's too team dependant.
