These are the gifts I like to receive:

The gift of undivided attention.
The gift of someone’s time.
The gift of a person’s creativity.
The gift of something I need.
The gift of something to make me smile.
The gift of acceptance – not being judged.
The gift of someone’s real thoughts.
The gift that is of a sacrificial nature.

In thinking about these gifts, I realize that God, himself, has given them all to me. Now, can I give these back to him? And with the same love?
All worthwhile gifts.

Grow.jpg

Grow up into Christ.
Grow down into humility.
Grow wise in understanding.
Grow fat with the Spirit.
Grow stronger in faith.
Grow deeper in grace.

And when you think you have grown enough… grow from there.

These are quickly becoming my favorite lessons from my favorite bird :)

Well, second favorite bird. I still have to put my Sidney first. But she doesn't have the teaching ability Red Bird does :)

So many things that need healing:
Bodies
Emotions
Relationships
Fears and doubts

Sit alone before the Lord and allow him to minister to you and listen for what he might say. Sometimes he will give you words to hang onto and sometimes you might be given something to do.

He is the Great Physician. “I am the Lord who heals you”. Think of going before the Lord as a visit to the doctor’s office. But with him, your bill has been paid by Christ’s sacrifice.

Have compassion for the thing you are praying to be healed, and send it loving thoughts.

Let go of any bitterness or unforgiveness in your heart. And be patient while the Lord works.

Pray for someone else who suffers with the same thing you do.

Amen, always keep growing

PHILIPPIANS 3:12 I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection! But I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be.

I especially like that last part

'Pray for someone else who suffers with the same thing you do.'

hug.jpg

We all need our “lean-tos” at those times our bodies are too tired to work or our hearts too pained to care. When we have no energy to keep struggling.

Our lean-tos can be anyone or anything (even that forgotten cuddly old teddy bear) that brings us a sense of comfort, a pause from the pain, or a feeling of warmth to sustain us.

Some people make good “lean-tos”, allowing you to really fall into them in a strong hug. They are blessed with love and compassion to share. They bring you the heart of God – welcoming and providing a moment of refuge for you.

Let yourself lean on others. Some have been put there just for you.

Imitate.jpg

We are told to imitate Jesus:.
His humility and gentleness
His sacrificial nature - putting himself last and others first
His passion for truth and righteousness
His acceptance of people from all walks of life
His acts of compassion for the sick and needy
His private moments of prayer with the Father
His praise for the Father’s wisdom
His continual teaching the gospel of the kingdom
His kindness and forgiving nature
His expectation to suffer for righteousness’ sake
His choice to fight flesh and temptations
His surrender to the Holy Spirit
His obedience to the Father’s will
His role of a servant

Informed.jpg

We are full of information.
Book after book, news after news, teaching after teaching, voice after voice, and thought after thought, word after word. How can we hold all this?

It is good to be well informed on the truths of scripture. But sometimes even all that begins to jumble together. And I can’t remember the dates, names and events that I expect I should.

That is when I look for the few simple words that stand out from the rest – such as:
“For God so loved.”

God never said that we should figure it out. He says over and over to TRUST Him. If we are certain of everything, what's the use of having faith in Him?

JOY.jpg

Oh, joy, where are you when I need you? Where are you hiding today? How will I recognize you? Do I really have to wait “till the morning?” And when does that come for sure? Does that only mean death? I’ve already learned that not every morning has joy.

I found that it can be very short-lived if I seek joy for itself. It is an additional blessing, not the end in itself. It flows into and grows within the person whose life and energies are not focused merely on being “joyful”.

The greatest of joys are those that arise when we are so absorbed in some creative task that we are set free from self-concern. It is self-concern that brings us sorrow, and blunts the joy that we could be experiencing.

Ps. 16:11 “…..In thy presence is fullness of joy.” Now, here is where the greatest joy can be experienced. God’s presence, when it is really felt, does cause us to forget about ourselves and our struggle to “catch” joy when we can.
We are at last with the one Who is Joy, and gives joy.

So that we can give it a face.

God never said trusting Him requires our ignorance. Especially with scripture!
