Would you read a fairly long book a friend of mine wrote kind of countering Rick's book if I sent it to you? It's not a "Here's what is wrong with Warren" book. It is simply a "I see it another way." book.

We're not talking about math, but some pattern of interaction God has with humans. I don't care if he overcame the world. Jesus accomplished nothing lasting. If he wanted peace, he failed. If he wanted to have followers to pass down the knowledge necessary to walk above disease and death, he failed. If he wanted to change the world, he failed.

He did not accomplish anything.

Countering it in what way? He says God loves us and we have purpose. Are you saying the opposite?

Every nanosecond? How about NONE AT ALL, EVER. I am changing my view to number 2 on your list. That is the only thing that makes sense. I didn't ask him to send his son to die. If he loves me, he doesn't need anyone to die. He can just say, "I forgive you." Done. Finished, complete.

The gospel is a confusing thing. First, in order to appreciate the good news, you must convince people they are going to hell. Unless you believe this, then the other news won't mean much. Then you tell them, "but there is a way out of hell."

This is just nonsense. It is like the islanders in the old movies, where you throw a virgin in the volcano. If God loves us so much, he doesn't need someone to die. He can just forgive.

God makes a race of humans, knowing that they are going to sin, and then punishes them FOREVER. If that is your story, then what a monster God must be.

God has not showed any indication that he loves me, or anyone else for that matter. No, I must explore you option no 2
Hi Drogovska
Please go ahead and explore, on your own, my option number two. I'll even look up the term for you and get back to you.

While you're at it, try to find out why it was necessary for God to have a sacrifice. And why would it have had to be God Himself? A clue is that God is a JUST God. He must be just or His verdicts would have no meaning for us. The verdict I refer to is where we'll be spending eternity.

Oh. And He gives US the choice of where it is we'll be spending eternity. He does not decide for us. He HAS made a reparation for our sins, and we will sin each and every day.

And as far as love: Think of this: Most days do you wake up feeling well, or do you wake up feeling sick? Feeling well, I would assume unless you have a disease. The well is God. The sick is satan. There is more well in the world than sick in the world.

I'll try to get back to you with that term.

Most days I feel sick, and sorry that I was ever born. What's your point?

I don't believe in hell, so I don't care about eternity. I care about the suffering now. I have never been healthy. I have always been sick, afraid, and depressed, except for a few brief periods.

I have been listening to the messages by Rick Warren during the 40 day of purpose thing online.

In one of his talks, he keeps using the phrase, "God loves you SOOO MUCH . . . "

And it occurred to me, that I have been believing in a myth. I realized for the first time in my life, that God really does not love me.

I am in a crisis of faith. All the evidence tells me that God, if there is one, cannot be a personal God, and many of the claims about God and his character cannot be true.

I just completed day 12 of this series. I had to stop for a while, because I just couldn't listen to all the lies. I told a friend I would complete the series, so I have resumed.

I take away two things from this--1. God does not love me 2. There is no purpose to my life.
Hi Drogovska

The names I was looking for are: Theism and Deism.
There is "open Deism" and "closed Deism". Some will define just "deism" as the God who created everything and then left it to us to continue unaided. Theism describes a personal God. You'll find some info here, but there is much more if you google Deism. On Wiki scroll down to the titles of Theism and Deism, but the info is limited. Please do the study on your own and do not depend on anyone else.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God

You might also want to google: IS GOD A PERSONAL GOD?
You should be able to find a lot of information on this. Because Jesus is God and I believe in Jesus, I must also believe that God is a personal God. I must also know that I CANNOT understand everything about God, or I would BE God!! We only know what HE wants us to know or feels we need to know.

Do you think an ant can understand You??

Blessings,
Fran

His book is called The Jesus Driven Life, and he sees us as being sort of chauffeured through life, with Jesus taking us where He wants us to go, rather than us having some sort of divine Purpose that dictates our path through life.

For instance, I don't think Fran nor I feel we had a divine purpose that was to locate you and give you whatever we may have. But my friend sees us being here as passengers in God's car, and He chose to make the last three or four turns that would bring us right next to you walking down a dusty, hot, discouraging road, bringing you alongside the open windows we are sitting beside in the car.

You said something. We looked. And now we are all three having the conversation God intended for us to have........ and God is watching us all from His place behind the wheel.

Drogovska,
If you don't name the person you're speaking to, how will he know to respond to you????

Anyway, we all have suffered. We each feel our own suffering. I'm not going to write to you to compare who is suffering more because I know it will end one day.

You say you don't believe in hell. OK. Do you believe in heaven? Do you believe you have a soul? A spirit? Do you
believe in an afterlife?

Let's say you don't believe in an afterlife... Does this mean one does not exist? Could YOU be mistaken?
Do you know about Pascal's wager?? Look this up too. It's very interesting!

You don't have to believe in it for it to be real. God may be using your present suffering to try to get your attention. You could listen.

I thought if I click on "reply" under the post, that person in the post is the one I am addressing. Is this not so?

Ive been listening for 45 years. I am tired of listening, and hearing nothing, because God does not speak, and it is time for me to grow up and leave myths. Santa claus and the tooth fairy was easy to let go of. God is a bit harder to release.

Yeah...did it occur to you that the reason is because He is different? Just an idea.

Concerning your illnesses and your son............ It's just something to consider.

The saying goes, “from the mouths of babes…” and this story certainly shows how children can impart wisdom that everyone can learn from.

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups, and set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard.

As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt tug on his overalls.

He looked down into the eyes of a little boy.

“Mister,” he said, “I want to buy one of your puppies.”

“Well,” said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat of the back of his neck, “these puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money.”

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket,
he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. “I’ve
got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?”

“Sure,” said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle. “Here Dolly!” he called.

Out from the doghouse and down ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur.

The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight.

As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed
something else stirring inside the doghouse.

Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller.

Down the ramp it slid. Then in a awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up….

“I want that one,” the little boy said, pointing to the runt.

The farmer knelt down at the boy’s side and said, “Son, you don’t want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would.”

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe.

Looking back up at the farmer, he said, “You see sir, I don’t run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands.”

With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup. Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy.

“How much?” asked the little boy.

“No charge,” answered the farmer, “There’s no charge for love.”

This lovely story of the perfect match has circulated the Internet for years and after reading it I know why. I love its message – that the world is full of people (and animals) who need someone who understands.

Anyway you look at it, those promises you speak of are lies. God does not follow any kind of pattern, and fulfills no promises. If you don't experience them, then we use the copout, "well I guess I am not holy enough." There are no promises, just a bunch of wishful thinking by ancient writers.
You're trolling! As bitter as you are, as hate filled, you're not here to have a discussion or even seeking understanding. You're here to condemn the faith and the faithful. Couching it in the excuse that you've "tried" on the faith and it didn't work as promised and now you're seriously PO'ed and are here to defecate on everything we believe.

See, if you really have nothing more to do with the faith, if you ever had anything to do with it, you'd have no reason to be here saying that in vicious repetitive ways. Every post that hopes to lead you to better understanding, you condemn and berate and then enter into your insults toward the faith yet again.

I personally think you should be banned. Your screen name is an anagram for Gradskovo. Which is a village in Serbia. Regardless of the American flag that accompanies your profile. An American linked IP can be afforded via a VPN.

These promises we speak of are lies? OK. No one with any self respect would occupy their time with liars or believers in lies. Bye now.
