so umm I have been wanting to make hair thicker because while my hair is naturally silky and soft it is extremely thin and I can't stand the thinness of it. But I have heard that most hair thickening shampoos and such don't really work so I was wondering has anyone used any that you have seen actually work?

I don't have a clue,I have just the opposite kind of hair,my hair doesn't grow out it just gets thick and eventually curls a little, though I try to keep it straight.

I have a tube of mascara you could use. Amazon.com sent me it by mistake, and apparently it wasn't worth enough for them to pay return shipping for it. I don't know what to do with it... give my cat longer, fuller whiskers? You can try it on your hair, it should work.

Just be careful what your head contacts for the rest of the day. Probably don't want to wear a hat, it'll get black gunk all over the inside.

Something will happen to thicken your hair one day. Gray hair. It's just thicker than regular hair. lol

I've seen your hair. (Well, at least when you were wearing a mohawk, so, technically, only saw a wide swath of your hair, with little to no hair on either side. lol) You don't look like you're balding. You've got plenty of hair. So, first question is why do you want it thicker?

Before gray hair, my hair was both thin and thick. Thick in that I had plenty of hair per square inch. Thin, in that it's what used to be called "Indian hair." (Probably some cultural "inappropriate phrase" nowadays, however it's a good description of what I had.) It was perfectly straight and would not hold a curl, if I tried to bribe it with whatever hair would accept as a bribe. That is also called "thin hair."

So, I'm thinking you think your problem is that kind of "thin hair." In which case, nothing changes that. Hair is what hair is, and the only one who can change that is God. That said by someone who spent decades trying to change mine, until ultimately I noticed gray hair solved the problem, but not quite as I expected. Gray hair isn't straight. It goes wherever it feels like going. lol

oh! mine was, too. what you may want, rather than a shampoo (which i can promise you will do next to nothing) is product.

ask Dr. Ax, he's quite the expert in many areas...

as for when graying begins and usually turns white, well when I was younger,
me, the mrs., I had curly hair and tried for eight years to straighten it, to no avail really =
and then when we moved back to the beach area, it really got even curlier,
so a friend, who had curly hair said to me one day, why don't you just let it go natural,
and guess what, I did, and was so pleased for so many years with it - all I had to do was
wash it and let it dry...

here's the crux, when I started to go gray and now, white, it is perfectly 'straight'!
I do really like my hair natural as well as the rest of me...oh what a waste those eight years
were, and so much 'stress' - when I look back at some of the things that I tried and
'did', I can still, be amazed at myself...:rolleyes:

Blain, since you Love Jesus, let Him be the Judge, I'm positive that He loves you just
the way you are...:) just be yourself, a natural, beautiful, young man...

Hair thickeners do not work. Like Lynn said, you either have thick hair or thin hair. It is genetic. BUT you can make thin hair appear to be thicker by using voluminizing shampoo and voluminizing products, like mousse. As you blow dry your hair, you brush it up to give it body.

I hope these ideas work.

How thick your hair can actually be is ultimately determined by genetics which you cannot change. However there are things you can do environmentally that would have your hair be at its optimum in health.

1) Have your hair professional cut by an excellent stylist consistently, every 3 months maximum, the growth and thickness you'll see from a great pair of scissors will be significant.

2) Instead of washing it at home, have it washed professionally at least once a week. Their scalp techniques and the way they use the best shampoo and conditioner for your hair will have significant benefits short and long term.

3) Let your hair dry naturally - that intense heat and those styling tools can break them and ensure the hair is dead and lifeless. The thousands of watts of heat in hair dryers/straighteners/curlers will just end the life of the hair - stay away from these. Don't dry your hair artificially - use a towel or let it air dry. God's nature can dry your hair best it will be bouncing in no time.

4) Your diet is incredibly important to your hair. If you drink lots of water, eat lots of fruit and vegetables - your hair will lap this up as opposed to a consistent diet of (for example) denny's and the like which is just suicide for health all round.

5) Stay away from all pharmaceutical and grocery store cheap hair products that are so damaging for the hair. The advertising industry is very powerful and any study into these chemicals shows they do nothing positive for your hair. A simple but best shampoo and condition at the salon and nothing else is all it requires.

6) Don't colour your hair at all. The chemicals in that poison will strip your hair of it's natural pigment and oils and is just a no go if you're interested in thickness.

Natural and healthy are inextricably linked and is always the best way.

always, always, READ the LABELS, for dyes and formaldehyde, alcohol, plus other
extremely damaging ingredients that can and do effect your hair and body,
especially since your 'hair' is right NEXT to your BRAIN...I'm talking, soaking up and into here...

Lol, so if your brain can soak up whatever you put on your scalp, that explains quite a lot.

We need Bible in liquid form! lol
Yes, among other things. If all knowledge could be massaged into the scalp, my job would be a lot easier. Yesterday, I was listening to the kids talk while they were making their ornaments, and one said “Blue is a primary color, and orange is a secondary color.” I was surprised, I always am when they retain anything at all.

I agree with notmyown Blain. Coloring drys the hair out and if you don't use a lot of conditioner, it will seem thicker.

You could try blue. :)
