JESUS IS LORD The Way, The Truth, The Life
A HEART OF FLESH
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. EZEKIEL 36:26

From our hearts comes our response to God. Apart from the cleansing work of the Holy Spirit, our hearts are extremely deceitful (Prov. 17:9). David prayed that God would cleanse him from the ravages of his sin and purify his heart (Ps. 51:10). God's greatest desire is that His people love Him with all their hearts (Deut. 6:5). Jesus said we are blessed if our hearts are pure (Matt. 5:8).

Sin hardens the heart (Matt. 13:4, 19). The more sin we allow to pass over our hearts and through our lives, the more resistant we become to a word from God. The sin of unforgiveness stiffens our hearts. We cannot continue to resist the prompting of the Holy Spirit without becoming hardened against Him. Exposing ourselves to evil and ungodly influences desensitizes us to God and His word. Over time, our hearts become like stone, unreceptive to a fresh word from God. We become anesthetized to sin.

Has your heart grown hard toward God? Do you feel as though nothing could soften it? God has a solution. He will separate you from the influences that are destroying you (Ezek. 36:24). He will cleanse you from all filthiness and remove everything that has taken His place in your affections (Ezek. 36:25). He will remove your heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh, tender toward Him and His word. If your love for God is not what it should be, ask Him to renew your heart and restore your devotion to Him.

Very good post Simplyme_Bekah.

I have a good poem from Isaac Watts that would go well with the subject of your post. Watts poem is about how a hardened heart pulls us away from God.

Hardness Of Heart Complained Of

My heart, how dreadful hard it is
How heavy here it lies
Heavy and cold within my breast
Just like a rock of ice

Sin, like a raging tyrant, sits
Upon this flinty throne
And every grace lies buried deep
Beneath this heart of stone

How seldom do I rise to God
Or taste the joys above
This mountain presses down my faith
And chills my flaming love

When smiling mercy courts my soul
With all its heavenly charms
This stubborn, this relentless thing
Would thrust it from my arms

Against the thunders of thy word
Rebellious I have stood
My heart, it shakes not at the wrath
And terrors of my God

Dear Savior, steep this rock of mine
In thine own crimson sea
None but a bath of blood divine
Can melt the flint away

God will give us a new heart and spirit, but makes it clear how we are to come to Him to receive His grace, and mercy, if you consider yourself a Christian but still think Jer 17-9 is the normal Christian experience, as to having a deceitful and defiled heart, then you think God will somehow cleanse this wicked heart after you get saved by saying the sinners prayer, then you are greatly deceived.

Forgive me if I am reading into your Post here

All through scripture, and especially the profits of old, cried out to the nations to repent, amend their ways, stop doing evil, repent and seek Gods mercy, read Eze ch 18 for starters, Gods mercy and pardon is given to those who repent and follow Him with a heart made pure through faith.

Eze 36:31 And you shall remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall despise yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.
Eze 36:32 I do not do this for your sake, says the Lord Jehovah, be it known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel

God gave them a new heart and love and fear for Him,because they repented, and this repentance was real, see Jonah CH 3.

Isa 55:6 Seek Jehovah while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.

How do we get a new heart and spirit from God?
Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to Jehovah, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

Its simple to see, if you take the whole council of God, that His mercy is conditional, and those who have truly repented, and crucified thier flesh with Christ, read Rom ch6, are saints, and not the Romans wretch, or Jere 17-9, Christian, its impossible to be cleansed and dirty at the same time, or walking in the light and darkness at the same time. see 1 JN 1-7.

So if your Church teaches you get saved, such as the Billy Graham sinners prayer, labels you a saved wretched sinner(born sinner) and Jesus took you place, is your substitute, then you are under the great delusion of 2 Thess 2-9-10!

A Saint or an aint?

Joh 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

Either you are one or the other, no such things as a sinning saint! A saint is walking in the present tense with Christ, being obedient, pure in heart and deed, and listening to His voice, then they follow Him on the narrow road. Luke 9-23. A real saint as described in the Bible has crucified his flesh with Christ, Galatians 2-20, once and for all, hence I have been crucified, and thus they now walk in newness of life, 2 Corinthians 5-17. Cleansed and purified of all willful sin, through a real repentance and faith. 2 Corinthians 7-10-11. They must remain diligent and faithful to the truth, obey from the heart, and keep themselves undefiled from the world and its false ways! 1 John 2-15-17.

I am not sure I agree with you at all tommy. When I read what you wrote confusion filled my mind. I think the Holy Spirit is telling me that what you have put down is false. Thats just my gut feeling. I tend to go with it.
