Why do light bulbs only burn out right when you turn the light switch on?

How come they can't stay on for a minute and then burn out?
Wowwwww, you just blew my mind. Thermal expansion? Because the filament is cold at first? I don't know. But now I'll have to find out or else my head will explode.
I was essentially correct. The stress of the sudden temperature change is what usually makes the filament give out.

Taken from this article:
Why do light bulbs burn out just as they’re turned on?
Those who wish to prolong the lives of their bulbs for ecological or sentimental reasons can pre-warm them to a cozy 2,000 degrees before switching them on.

I honestly don't think I have a favorite. I like them all. :D

But I have a question for you! What is that in your avatar? It looks like maybe a skeleton of a fish or something? I can't quite tell what it is.
That's easy, Popclick. It's a crater on the green planet. All we have to do now is figure out which planet is the green planet.

Thanks! But I keep forgetting to check my max bench. I wanted to give an accurate answer. :p

Your dog started a grassroots organization dedicated to recycling old paint. We are all very proud.

It is possessed. :( Sorry.

Should we caramelize or capitalize or capitalize on the carmalizing?

Its ok. I haven't checked mine in a while either. Its hunting season now so I've shifted gears a little.

I'm sure you have too.

Did you get your buck, yet?

I don't know about anyone else, but I most certainly got mine.

I went to the ATM yesterday... and a buck was about all I had.

I have 4 quarters. :)
You can quarter your buck if you have to.

But usually this is only done if you are so far away from your truck that it would take several days to get him home.

I've only had to do it twice. And they were within a day of each other. One was my buck and one was my sons.

I'm desperately hoping that Grandpa forgot to use an apostrophe. O.O

We should caramelize Rice Krispie treats. It's a simple recipe I came up with all by myself. Basically, you just leave the marshmallows on the stove until they reach the "oh no, I left the marshmallows on the stove" stage. You will not find this particular temperature on a candy thermometer, but it occurs when the melted marshmallows are looking somewhat golden brown. Then, you pour in the Rice Krispies somewhat sheepishly, and when they cool, you discover that they are the best Rice Krispie treats ever.

I've never hunted deer. It sounds like fun, except for the part where it takes a lot of patience. :p

1. Do all the cats on Youtube belong to a union?

2. If not, could I make a lot of money by starting a cat union?

3. How many "gangsta cats" will I need to coerce all the Youtube cats to join my union?

4. Do you have any connection for hiring "gangsta cats"?

The world received an epic trolling, from which it has not fully recovered. :D

1. I have been instructed to say that there is no cat organization of any kind.

2. I do not recommend it. Cats will never unify and become a strong force whose will and determination shall pound humanity into the dust whence it came.

3. The gangsta cats, if such a thing existed, would already be in league with the YouTube cats as of 4/15/12.

4. I do not know any gangsta cats. And I've already said too much.

( hehe - Now that I have her "all buttered up"... )

And today's question is:

"Do you have any idea at all why people stopped posting in this thread?
"

( hehe -- I want to hear her unique reasoning on "what happened?"... )

;)

I have a question. How many nots does it take for a question to become a knotted one?
