Do! VCO is quite abundant here, although before we were not paying attention to it. After all we had fresh buco, coco milk for viands, coconut oil (not vco) to fry, bucaio, etc etc.

May i post this here, instead of starting another answer... Btw I see there is a pdf of Moldenke's book so here... I see the iris was recommended by herbalists for all manner of human ailments, incl. bruises, coughs, dropsy, snakebite, 'spleens,' and temper tantrums. Roots were chewed by infants during teething. p. 118.

I'm reading in Leviticus right now. There were quite a few verses on making the lepers ritually clean, using the blood of the offerings, and oil on the wounds. I can post the chapters if you want. My Bible is downstairs, and the stairs are not my best friends right now.

It was actually so interesting, I was enjoying reading Leviticus.

I have a thyroid going bad Arrrg, I've been using iodized salt which has iodine in it.
Fish and other seafoods which contain iodine and omega 3 fatty acids, it's good to have seafood in the diet no doubt a lot of people don't eat enough of it. I've never ate much seafood in my life very little probably why my thyroid struggles these days :(
the japanese eat tons of seafood and the country has very low thyroid issues in its population not like here in the U.S were there's 70 million with thyroid issues. Thyroid medication ive read is the 4th most prescribed med.
though to much fish especially tuna fish can be unhealthy also, for it has high levels of mercury in it.
When I was young, five out of seven nights a week, we ate what Dad caught hunting and fishing. Between that and being Catholic back when fish-was-for-dinner every Friday night, we ate fish at least twice a week. Throw in fresh-caught oysters from the Delaware Bay and bass from small lakes in South Jersey, possibly three nights a week. I also live where seafood is plentiful, so it didn't cost a lot, and married someone who likes seafood too.

I've had goiters on my thyroid for at least 18 years. Thyroid problems aren't caused by lack of fish. They're caused by God's decree for whatever good purpose he causes them for. :)

Virgin coconut oil is good for keeping your gums n mouth healthy, usely it's found in the health food stores it's like a past in a jar. a tablespoon full swished around in the mouth for about 5 mins each day can heal your gums if their inflamed etc..though I'm not sure if coconut is mentioned in the bible.
I dont know it is, but other palm trees are. There was a site i was looking at some info on grounding/earthing and they had coconut products too and it said:

Is there anything that coconut isn't good for?

Coconut is a truly "functional food," with healing benefits that reach far beyond its basic nutritional content and a flavor that we just can't get enough of.

cayenne pepper mixed in hot water is good for plugged mucous (it has a mucus cutting enzyme in it)

paprika is also good for anti-inflammation....it actually comes from the pepper capsicum...which is also the pepper they use to make capsaicin...the muscle pain rub....

most people don't know that their spice cabinet is full of medicines, you just need to know which ones...

Mint is a good antiseptic in general, and has very good anti-microbial properties.....I love the smell of fresh cut mint....

Health Benefits and Reasons to Grow Mint - Urban Organic Gardener
Its said that in a cookery book of the Roman Marcus apicius, green and preserved mint is alluded to in almost every page. it was used as a stomachic, and the Heb.synagogue' used to have fragrant mint stems and leaves scattered over floors, yielding their fragrance as they were steeped upon." from p. 140

The coconut is a palm, relative of the date. I wonder what else they do with dates nowadays... I found this in Moldenke: The palm tree (Heb. elot) is unquestionably the date palm Phoneix dactylifera. Being peculiar in the erect mode of its growth, with branchless taperign stem to 80 ft or more...its fruit weighing 30-50 lbs, is the chief article of food for innumerable tribes of arabia and northern africa... the kernel is said to be more nutririous than barley... it is alos what the jews usually referred to when they spoke of ;honey; (d'vash). Its been reported that bees are mentioned in the Bible but 4 times,w hile honey 49 times. This substantiates the claim the the word honey was not alwyas used in the sense we use it today. Herodotus speaks of palm tree as producing bread, wine and honey. He and pliny also mentioned that ancient orientals made both wine and honey from date palm. p. 170

Posting a reply in Bible Discussion on whether or not medications are sinful, I posted some of the little I know about Biblical meds, three topical meds in particular, wine, salt and olive oil
A little on olives, Moldenke, 1952, p.158-160
The olive was undoubtedly one of the most valuable trees of the Hebrews. Most annointing was doen with olive oil. olive abounds in Palestine, with the most extensive olive yards on the borders of the Phoenician plain. Also impt in the county of Ephraim... The plains of Gilead, and t he lower slopes form a long series of olive groves.

Horner and others have pointed out 'no tree is more closely associated with the history of man and the development of civilization than the olive.' The branches of the wild are rather stiff adn the typical cultivated tree is much branched and evergreen. The fruits are large, ovate or ellipsoid, black or violet-blue drupes, the outer fleshy parts of which yield the valuable olive oil. The ripe fruit is eaten raw, while t he unripe usually made a pickle or relish.

Gethsemane was an olive orchard, adn the prime attractions of gardens of Bible history are the strictly utilitarian fruit wc they produce and the shade, in wc a person may obtain relief from the scorching sun.

The Heb. word translated pomegranate is rimmon, usually small and bush-like, with branches often thorny. A native of Asia, it has been cultivated and is now common in the Holy Land, Egypt and the shoers of the mediterranean..the pulp has been used extensively since Solomon;'s time for making cooling drinks and sherbets, also eaten raw. The astringent rind of the unripened fruit yields a red dye and has been used in medicine. The soft seeds are also eaten, sprinkled with sugar, or when dried, as a confectionery. (p. 190-91)

Anise (Mt. 23.23) is a dainty, feathery leafing annual that may reach 2 ft, it has rounded green leaves with toothed edges. A good tonic for digestive problems, and helps in bad breath; also encourages sound sleep. From a Guide to herbs

Having started a reply, let me put this down as this has been in my mind recent: The aloe is a bitter-juiced, succulent perrennial, growing to abt 7 ft high and wide in open spaces, although smaller in containers where growth is restricted [so this is why the bigger i have seen are only abt 2 ft high at most]. The juice can be applied directly to the skin for wounds and sunburn. It is also an astringent.

I pray do post something soon, angela. someone might complain someone's monopolizing a thread.

Then i remember when aloe shampoo was just new here in high school or college. Of course we wanted to try something not so common. Now there is also aloe-based toothpaste, if you have tried?
