I get irritated with a lot of cell phone use in general. Facebook can wait. Twitter can wait. Your spiritual life is more important than your networking.
But who will feed and take care of all those virtual animals and veggies on Farmville?

I wonder if people just forget to turn off their cell phones before they go into the sanctuary or if they think that all their contacts know not to call them at that time,or maybe they hope it doesn't ring.

At my church there happens both good and bad way of phone using. Good way, also mentioned here is for example have bible or bible study material there, the bad example: one old lady have a mobile phone that is set very loud. and someone have habit to call her to that phone during worship service. It would be enough like that but for the lady takes significantly long time to realise that it's her phone that is riging louder than any other sound in the church and slowly opens her handbag and ansvers the phone. Yeah I know she is old and it's good that someone remembers her but still that's irritating to everyone else in the church.
Thanks
yes, i have seen this happen in church and worst of all a funeral

in the church I used to attend, there were some ladies who would wave their arms, sway, really seem to be into worship songs, and then as soon as the songs were over, they sat down and started texting. made their worship seem totally fake.
Thanks
yes it seems no matter where you go or how nice the church there are always performers
(the performer at my church happens to be my uncle, that is on the choir and if there's a visitor his eyes light up and he will take over the song and drag it on all while going up and down the isle) there are others

It seems to me his cell was more important than God's word which makes the phone a "god" itself. " Thou shall have no other gods before Me. He was worshiping the phone in the House of the Lord.
Thanks , and he's getting attention

There is a volume control on the phone and a vibrate setting if you must have it on period.
Thanks, when you go to a special event or funeral they often ask that you turn it off or put it on vibrate

yes i think sometimes people do forget , but even when you ask people not to call you between certain times , they always seems to say "i know you said not to call but........"

I actually use my phone during the entire worship service. but not for texting or playing games. I have my bible in there. that with my notes, dictionary, and etc. Me and alot of our youth use our cellphones during bible study. It's funny coz when the pastor tells us to open to a specific verse, we all pull out our phones. haha! but seriously, :)

That was unnecessary. It's not a high school classroom.

Wow. You're giving the devil way too much power. People always seem to ring at the most inconvenient times. That's life.

Thanks, it seems like that is an easier and quicker way to find your verses , better than flipping through the Bible trying to keep up ,only to find your page but then they are on to the next verse

I much prefer a physical Bible but for convenience sake it's very useful to have access to a myriad of translations at the click of a button.

Thanks, he might go through the phones in service a lot and that might haved been the last straw
A lack of patience doesn't justify it. You could have asked the gal to step out, without throwing the phone on the floor and destroying it. If nothing else, he would have looked less hypocritical. "we are to love one another, *CRASH*"

Yes, and no. I can understand his frustration building but what he did wasn't right. Still, people need to have some good old manners and respect for others (the woman with the phone). It's like they don't know that they're doing something that's considered rude.
