Hello AustinT
I would say its from trusting the five senses far more than they were intended to be used for rather than trusting the word.

In other words I think that Christians that are called liberal or worldly are being carnally minded.

The watershed issue of a theological christian liberal is that he does not hold to the bible as the literal inerrant Word of God.

It goes downhill from there.

They nearly suffocated the Church in the early twentieth century.

Practical examples please
Giving it a shot here. My understanding of an example of a Christian Liberal or Liberal Christian would be someone that may state that, "The Holy Spirit (God the Holy Spirit) has the authority to forgive the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit." Every sermon I've heard relates, "Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the unforgiveable sin." I am not aware that the Bible states this anywhere, but in a verse, God Father may say that he cannot/will not forgive the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Another may state that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is an eternal sin. However, the idea of unforgiveable to a liberal is a restriction that is not correct. Consider, if one disagrees that the Holy Spirit has the authority to forgive a sin against Itself, is that not also a blasphemy? May God bless you all.

I believe the Holy Spirit can forgive anything. Its not for us to put restrictions on the mercy of God.
I think we may be underestimating the love of the Father...
Jesus is so much more than I can imagine.

Depends on the war. Self-defense and just-war are wholly biblical and Christian. Just because you choose to stand aside enabling the likes of Adolph Hitler, Stalin, etc... doesn't mean the rest of us are going to nor should.

I've always wondered how people an be Christian and so supportive of war.

Ephesians 6:10) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 .) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 .) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 .) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 .) Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 .) And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 .) Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 .) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 .) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

(......just saying....... :) )
