I am watching one now called Father Stu, starring Mark Wahlberg and Mel Gibson, based on
the true story Stuart Long. I am quite enjoying it despite all the profanity... as a review says:

It will forever hold the record for cussing and f-bombs for this subject matter. From 2022.

a few months ago I watched 2 perhaps Christian movies, 1 quite sad yet spiritually good based on true story...
Letters to God

the other a comedy...
Just like Heaven this one at least mentions Heaven but, it's more a metaphor and actually while it carries weight as a comedy it's surprisingly heart felt and will keep you on the edge of your seat like an action thriller😀
a few adult themes as with most comedies but, if you like comedy, suspense, and a bit of love and caring then you might check it out😀👍

Originally the script was written to be just another secular apocalyptic movie. However, the only way Denzel Washington would be a part of it is if he changed the script to include his Biblical view. Hollywood executives fought Denzel on this and he went ahead and invested his own money to make it and in not so many words, told Hollywood God haters to go pound their heads against their wailing wall.

This was the last movie that Dad and I saw together. It never gets old. Every time I've seen it, it touches my heart.

Another tough action movie staring Denzel.
It's not a Christian movie and he doesn't quote Scripture, but it has a theme of self sacrifice. Language warning. Take note of the little actress. She will appear later in his latest movie.

My personal choices...

Tortured for Christ (2018)

Growing up, I read Pastor Richard Wurmbrand's book Tortured for Christ. A very moving story of his time under the Communists. A couple of years ago, I bought the movie. An incredibly moving movie. I think that anyone who has even the slightest feeling that Communism is a good idea should watch this movie. A very painful movie to watch. Very painful. I think it's necessary though. If anyone is not moved by this movie, I don't know what manner of a person they are.

---

Quo Vadis (1951)

An excellent movie that has been a favorite of mine for decades now, thanks to my father for introducing it to me a long time ago. The acting of Peter Ustinov as Nero and Leo Genn as Petronius was particularly good (imo).

---

Once Upon a Time in Mongolia (2022)

A much more light hearted movie than the previous two, but I thought the scenery of the movie was very appealing and it had me wishing I could head to Mongolia. I also liked the characters. Jargalant Myatav as Grandfather should be in more movies, what a cheerful actor. Also, the characters are Creationists, which is a plus for me.

Angel Studios [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Studios ] is known for making Christian themed movies or series, the most known is the series The Chosen.
Today I got a reminder on their app that a new movie about Abraham was released, called His Only Son.

I found it very inspiring and a good reminder that it’s not about what we want but what God wants.
It‘s a lesson in humility after we try to use our minds in trying to understand God so then we have complete faith in Him without worrying about the details.

Here’s the movie trailer :

Hey, @Eli1 I thought you might like to know that Focus on the Family had Jerry Jenkins on yesterday, sharing about his creative writing career and the power of The Chosen television show, written by his son Dallas. You can find the interview here (<= link) .:)

This was the last movie that Dad and I saw together.
The Lord gave me this CD on the way home following Dad's untimely death at the hands of the mu*dering Clarksburg WV VA Hospital.
The store was closed and the gate shut at the mall. The fellow opened the cash register, found the CD and passed it through the gate.

It was from the soundtrack in the last movie we watched together...The Book of Eli.
It was from the scene where God provided Eli a home to sleep in and a meal before moving on. Eli prayed in that scene immediately after this song. That's what happened to my Dad. The Lord gave him a new home. He moved onto Heaven. Dad prayed and asked Jesus for everlasting life. John 3:16 The Lord gave me this exact CD the day went to his new home. I played this song at his funeral.

Thank you Dad. 🥺

That's one that I never tire of watching every now and then.
Only saw it once, but I've never forgotten it.
As a fellow martial artist, I think you'll appreciate that Denzel was trained by the 2 top artists/ fight choreographers in movies,...Dan Inosanto and Jeff Imada.
He takes this into his Equalizer movies too.

@HealthAndHappiness

Did you see my list of recommended Christian movies starting in post #5?
Time Changer, Play the Flute, and Polycarp are really great.
Other good ones are the War Within, and the Redemption of Henry Myers.
The documentary on the KJB is really good, too. Granted, I think you probably already seen that, though.

Thanks for the list.
Your list probably has a lot more that aren't in our church library I used to attend and it had a big selection.

Funny thing is that a custodian on break started a conversation about his favorite Christian movie yesterday afternoon while I was waiting for the nurse to finish a procedure on Mom.
He went on and on about Overcomes.

Your welcome. There are a few others that used to be on my list that are good one-time watchers. I did not include them in my collection because I am not big in supporting movies that have somebody depicting Jesus or a Biblical character in some way (because some people can turn them into idol images in their minds).

Anyway, here is the list of other Christian films that are good one-time watchers:

1. Resurrection of Gavin Stone.
2. Ben Hur (remake)
3. Risen.
4. Prince of Egypt (Animated)
5. The Star (Animated).

Again, I have to caution you or any other viewer (of the above movies) that these films do not accurately represent the appearance of Jesus or God's people. We do not know what their appearance was like. So please exercise caution not to place such images in your mind in regard to what they look like in these films when you read the Bible.

Overcomer is good but it is on the lower end of my list. The camera work and production quality is top notch and the story is descent. I would recommend in seeing the following Christian films first.

1. Time Changer (Good comedy and great message).
2. Polycarp (Heart warming and inspiring as a part of the faith).
3. Play the Flute (The power of God's Word).
4. The War Within (Great acting, and special effects).
5. The Redemption of Henry Myers (Oscar winning performance, and great message).

If you want to laugh and get a good Christian message, I would recommend, "Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters." If you are looking for something more indie and yet creative, check out "77 Chances." If you want a good crazy action film with good special effects and has a good Christian message, check out Heaven's War. The acting is more like like a sub standard TV series, but it has a good message. Legacy Peak is a good drama. You will be on the edge of your seat on that one. The Biblical message is towards the end of the film. The film called "What if" is good, but I do have to warn it is by the creator of the Chosen TV series. I am not a big fan of that series for many reasons.

I've heard of the Inosanto. Mentioned in my JKD classes more than once.
