Religion= Religion is an organized collection of belief systems, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to spirituality and, sometimes, to moral values.[SUP][note 1][/SUP] Many religions have narratives, symbols, traditions and sacred histories that are intended to give meaning to life or to explain the origin of life or the Universe.

Nope christianity is totally a religion sorry to shatter your little cliche. Sure there might be a relationship but its still a religion as well.

Great nautilus... Religion vs relationship is cliche. It's true a Christian, but will make no sense to someone without a relationship. Religion is a loaded word. It fits the definition above and is therefore a correct definition of Christianity. However, the problem occurs when we have religion without relationship. Religion without relationship is just vain action.

Individual Christians are in relationships, the aggragate congregation of them is a religion. And yes religion without relationship is futile.

The KJV uses the english word religion in James 1, both in a negative and positive sense.

[h=3]Jam.1[/h][26] If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
[27] Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
The word religion is not evil in and by itself. It all hangs upon the content.

I just get tired of hearing this line. All it really is is a way to make people feel more spiritual, but in the end it doesn't really mean anything. I'm a Christian, that's my religion. I don't need some bumper sticker saying denying that to make myself seem more spiritual.

Now you see religion to me is the name of a certain belief, this name is a symbol of what we so called religious ppl do, how we live and what kind of person we are. Now christianity could very well be a man made name but the name origionates from following christ. However ppl did this very same thing in the OT and called it a relationship with the almighty and glorious god. So, to me faith in god, following christ, being a christian is not about the title of a religion but really an intimate relationship with god himself. So no, i do not think being a christian is a religion if it were all these ppl who say they are christians but are complete hypocites would be the true followers of christ wouldn't they?

The way I see it some people did not wanted to be part of the Catholic church so they became Protestants. Also other denominations began to grow and now we have quite too many denominations. Because of all the divide between religions, including non christian religions like Muslim, Mormons, Jews ext... some people do not know were they belong. This is causing many people to claim a basic general statement.

To belong to a religion is to belong in a community of believers. This community makes up the church which we all know it is not a location. The church is mention many times in revelation, there are many churches mention but they are not different churches, they are all one church with the same beliefs. Some stayed the path others began to steer away. We all have faith, religion makes us the bride of Christ.

A great quote from St Augustin:

"Understand so that you may believe, believe so that you may understand"
