When I lived in Michigan I went to the most amazing church. They followed the doctrine and I could always feel God with us. I've moved now to Indiana and have been to so many churches in the area and still can not find one where I can feel God with us. I feel like they are not true to the doctrine and choose to twist Gods word to fit this world. Has anyone else had this problem?

I imagine it would be hard for me to move away from my church and feel at home right away in another, but then again when I meet a brother or sister in Christ who believes like I do it feels like their someone I've always known.

The churches you're going to could be twisting God's word or maybe the preacher talks about current events more than Scripture.

What denomination was your old church? And be sure not to go by feeling but by Scripture.

Nothing new under the sun. For example, Christ only approved of 2 churches in the Book of Revelation. Those 7 churches are all with us today. It's been my experience that most churches are more concerned with their doctrines rather than with Christ's Doctrine.

Therefore, until you find a church that teaches the Word with understanding, you're probably better off just studying the Word at home.

The doctrine's of man make void (empty) the Word of God.

Sadly, for most people, "the doctrine" is what we grew up with, and what got a bit hung-up in our thinking as the only way. Often, you can look at ten "doctrines" the people in those ten churches swear is Christ's Doctrine.... yet it is very possible not a one of them really is.

I think, more often, we look at "values," and call them, Doctrine.

Scripture says seek and ye shall find.......so, keep seeking, there is a church out there that will suit your requirements.....but, I wonder if that is the best way to judge churches........... (see Mat. 6:7)

Tash,

if you have truly 'sought' and not 'found', then do as the scriptures say,
'Be still and wait upon The Lord'...hub and I have had to be reminded of this by
The Holy Spirit, many, many, times in our journey thus far but, we have made great progress;
it hasn't been easy, but it has been so very rewarding in so many precious ways...
just a few -
continual doses of Holy Faith as we learn and use what our Heavenly chooses to give us, along and along...
evidences of REAL PEACE -
" " of REAL ASSURANCE -
absence of 'carnal fears'...ETC...

I do not live where you live but I have lived a lot of places and drove a semi for over 10 years....and I found that I could stop at a church of Christ and I was always welcomed very warmly, treated well, and they taught biblically {which was very important to me}....so the best I can do to help you is to encourage you to find a church of Christ {that's what they usually have on a sign outside of the building}. Best of luck

Pray.
Prayer is the way forward > dear Lord Jesus where do you want me to be?
How may I serve you Lord?
Lead me to a safe place where I can grow and my soul prosper ...

Remember we are only servants at best - our lives do not belong to us.

With love from the land down under.
