Disturbing that 50% of the votees have a violent mind and little regard for human life.

Extend that to cops who are armed with a gun, how many of these cops were itching to turn someone into swiss cheese? You know, and then claim self-defence, or claim that the criminal had gone all bravado and had stopped with an intention and belief that he could shoot all 9 cops using ricochet physics.
Maybe you should get a job being a police officer.

You usually sound like you do some thinking before posting. What happened here?

Here is a picture of the gun he had on him when he was shot.

Immediately looking at it, BB gun doesn't come to mind. People need to put themseleves in the cop's shoes. They're trained to protect others and themselves. Cops are to have back up. Are nine cops emptying their clips too much? Maybe. At the end of the day, though, they're trained to protect and shoot in certain situations. This was one of them. For all they knew, that could have been a real gun and next thing they knew some cops are dead. It's a tragedy, but the kid brought it on himself. Sometimes stupidity will get you killed. Parents need to do a better job of teaching their kids to always respect authority.

Is it better for a cop to not do anything and risk being killed? Civilians aren't the only ones they need to protect. Maybe people shouldn't be criminals or try to think being stupid is funny. Let's not pin all this on the guy's "sinful nature", either. God gave us free will and common sense in knowing what to do and not to do.

You're writing about appointing shooters, but you don't get it.

To use a force, that has a likelihood of causing death, in self defense, the person in defense would have to be in fear of their own life being in jeopardy, or fear serious bodily injury.

How does a police supervisor decide who is in fear, and who is not?
A police officer is supposed to be able to control their fear. If they can't then they shouldn't be cops.

Are you in law enforcement? Ever looked down the barrel of a gun or been in a shootout?

While I've got you here I will caveat you one thing from the other thread, which was the comment about being anti-union (I know, hijacked my own hijack there didn't I? lol). While I know Willlie is, I don't know that you are, but assumed so because most who hold to your opinions are. If I assumed wrongly, my apologies.

Jim, I haven't had TV since 2009.. Had the cable turned off and never turned on since...

And I get "neutralizing the threat". BUT does that ALWAYS have to mean killing the perp every time???
Exactly how many bullets does it take to kill someone?

Probably only one, if it's placed right...

Just as it only takes one to incapacitate someone, like if they're shot in the leg for example..

Exactly, if they can't control their fear they shouldn't be a cop. Emotional intelligence. Allowing your emotions to get involved in situations leads to error of judgement, whether that is being fearful about making a move, or making a move too quickly without conscious intel.

You are an idiot. You have no understanding of common law.

Yes I have been.

No, I discourage organised labor.

I will challenge you also, go get a job as a police officer.

Being a firefighter or EMT for 35 years doesn't count because:

Something is wrong in your thinking.

Try being scared, and shooting a moving person in the leg.

Get a job being a police officer. Show the rest how it is done.

This looks like the post, of someone with an intellectual disability.

Seems the targets at the range are head and torso, no legs. Looks designed to save lives imho. A guy shot in the leg can keep on shooting the good guy. But bad guys are always shooting at the legs of cops to give them a better chance at survival. :D

I always liked the scene in Training Day where the gangster asks the cop how he likes being a pig, and the cop says "I should have been a fireman".

During my career, we have several cops who left the PD and transferred to the FD. Only once in my life have I seen a fireman become a cop.

And tell me ... who is the public happier to see? Us or you?

Your first line here (and the meme) fits in with other things you have said. Like Willie, your love has grown cold and you are a child of the world. I wasn't going to resort to name calling (the sure sign of someone who's got no argument left), but hey, since you started it (some threads ago), Tommy, you're a pig. In every sense.

And you're back on ignore. My sense of fairness tells me not to have a war of wits with an unarmed person.

Make no mistake, this thread ain't going to change anything. The Bible tells us love will grow cold, brother will betray brother, and inequality will abound. Cops will continue to swiss cheese people, whether they are career criminals or Joe nobody just trying to feed his family, and then feign surprise when the public calls them out on it instead of learning something from the experience. That's the difference between fire and law enforcement. We learn from our experiences.

Such as, when faced with a trash fire, you don't unload the whole 500 gallon water tank on it. It's an unnecessary waste. We learn how to knock it down with only 10. (And I can't wait to see how many people miss THIS point).

And again, any cop who lets fear overrule reason does. not. deserve. to be a cop. He's a danger to himself, his buddies, and the public. Is that why you left, Tommy? (Oh that's right I won't see his answer. Not interested anyway. Probably all vitriol).

The whole point of this was missed, probably my fault (even tho I did introduce the idea only to have it ignored) ... Are we all not children of God? Do we all not deserve to be spiritually swiss cheesed by Him? Yet how many bullets would Jesus fire? Not a one ... He'd turn the gun on Himself to save us.

It's just a shame that so many so called "Christians" don't share His love for mankind.
