Also, i'm not sure how you're going about with keeping track of his barrage of calls and comments etc... but i imagine, from a legal standpoint, you will need more than just noting down when it happened. I would call the police, explain it to them, and find out how you can go about building a strong, legally viable collection of his behavior. And then once you get a big collection go in an file a report with all of the information you collect. And keep going in adding to it. The more you have shown to the police that is viable, and that they have record of, the better off you will be. Keeping a note of what he does and then waiting won't be effective. They will need evidence. Save any voicemails/texts he gives, especially if they're threatening or harassing. Even if the police can't do anything now, the more you provide them consistently the easier time they will have. And it might possibly lead to them being able to do something if they can establish a pattern of harassment and/or stalking. Threats today are taken more seriously than they were in the past. Especially with a new understanding of stalking.

Yes thankfully my phone company upon looking online of my account I noticed it records call records and I can get all texts from the last 3 months btwn this person and myself. Which will help tremendously. I just dont know when enough is enough. Will it have to go so far as him attacking me? It worries me, I live with my family so I am putting them in danger possibly or will he wait til im alone...I have been attacked before...alone..defenseless other then my feet and kicking didnt help me then... my friend in the police said I'm not wrong to worry but to not be afraid of someone who is a coward like this person is. I guess he is right..

He may be a police man, but that does not make him a professional at understanding the nature of criminal psychology. Honestly, for him to say that he is either lying in an attempt to make you feel better, or just ignorant of these types of personalities and the typical outcomes.

Well, i wouldn't wait for anything. This is what i was saying before. Every week or so i'd go to the police with the evidence of his harassment and threats. Get them to open an official file on the issue. Eventually the evidence will have to stack up against him that will be reason enough for them to act. Unless you're in some small town that has some outdated thinking and understanding of the law.
I would look into researching stalking, before accepting your friends advice to not worry. Find out from people with real experience, and people who are trained and studied the subject. And perhaps look into the law regarding stalking and harassment in your state.

I don't know what to think anymore. I'm so fed up frustrated my anxiety went through the roof today. He called and left a few voicemails, i shouldnt have listened to them but i had to in order to clear it. He said:

1st: 10:53am "I need to talk to you you never answer me, why wont you f***ing answer me i warned you what would happen didn't i?"

2nd: 12:53pm "it's been two hours why haven't i heard from you? what do you think you are doing running around the cemetery all day you should be leaving me flowers not those pigs"

3rd: 2:53 pm "ya know what you b**** you have no idea about me, you said you would keep in contact then this sh*t went south and you tell me why? tell me b**** what do you think people like you get for walking out of a relationship?"

I didn't react to any of his calls i dont want to "stir the pot". But I couldnt help thinking on the 2nd call...that means he saw me out for my run, i always run the roads there; there is a pond around where 4 of my police (thats what he meant by pigs) friends are buried they were killed in the line of duty. But, that means he saw me....that freaked me out. The 1st and 3rd I'm not too concerned about but am logging them saving them online and written down.

I also notice they are all 2 hrs apart on the 53. I think I know why...we met 2/5/2013....Its been a constant thing...which freaks me out even more! tomorrow im going to show this to my friend and if he says its legal grounds to go further then I am!

April, the simple fact he spoke to where you were and what you were doing is proof he is stalking you as well.
Call the police now, and get a restraining order.
I dont know what state you live in, but here the calls alone would be sufficient for a restraining order.
Please call the police, he is escalating and I am concerned for your safety.

Thankyou Jesus , for he is our peace and protection, Ill be praying for you.
Hugs and God bless

Glad you're taking steps on this. Better to prepare for something that may (hopefully) never happen, than be caught off guard if it does.

X's mean kisses actually, haha. O's are hugs. But i'm single so i won't get in trouble, hahaha.

I told my friend and he said he would take care of it personally. super creeped out tho. prayers please...thank you

P.S please pray for my police friend. His name is Adam and he has been my biggest encourager, advisor and trainer (he is currently helping me learn how to fight and lose weight) :) but he needs prayer as he struggles with PTSD and depression. thank you

I'm thinking that's a violation of the restraining order. I'm in California and when someone violates a TRO, they get arrested. You should have called the cops.

Not to scary you but stalkers generally don't back off easily. ANY TIME you see him within the distance he's supposed to stay away from you, call the police. If you get him arrested enough for harassment, you could eventually get him locked up for a long time.

I'm so sorry that you are going through this trial. Not that I was of any help before, but I will lift you up in prayer, as well as your friend. I can only imagine the anxiety this is putting you through. I hope you find peace soon. God Bless

Learning to defend yourself is a good long term goal. But, in reality, it takes years of regular practice to actually put into practice what you learn, so that it is natural, and not something you have to stop and think about. And your average generic karate school isn't going to do that.
If you do wand to still take that route, here is a cool list i found a while back that should help you decide how to go about figuring out what to do...

Top 10 Martial Arts for Self Defense - Listverse
Aikido sounds pretty cool… but I think Imma start lookin for an Israeli martial arts trainer now

Yeah, she has done this. And was told to do this repeatedly in the previous page of this thread. And she was already talked to about the stalking nature of this mans habits.
