We often found squirrel tails in the back yard regularly. Once it was just the squirrel's head. (I have never figured out which is more disgusting -- that my cat ate squirrel's heads and the rest of the body and bones or that it ate a squirrel's tail?) We discovered we had a family of rabbits in the backyard the hard way. We counted four babies that were killed by their tails. I'm not sure if Momma got away considering I saw a clump of fur, but no skin. I had a mouse-brown shag rug in my room in college. It was summertime, so I was barefoot. I know it was mouse-brown because it perfectly matched the dead mouse I stepped on. And, I wasn't kidding. Our cat did bring in a live sparrow once. Took us 45 minutes of chasing both the cat (to get him away from chasing his prey) and chasing the sparrow until it figured out where the door was.

Someone gave hubby's first wife a kitten and she took it home. (She wore dresses, unlike me.) First the cat puked and pooped out what seemed to be a full can of baked beans. (I know. Weird. But then our cat's favorite food was spaghetti sauce.) Then it raced around the house. And then it raced up her bare legs by circling around the leg like a squirrel around a tree.
And then the cat was tossed outside never to be seen or heard from again.
Then, in autumn, they got another kitten. They named him Tiger. As a kitten, one of their neighbor's hunting dog attacked Tiger in Tiger's yard. He had several puncture marks over his body and was in pretty bad shape, but they never contacted the dog's owner about the incident. That's what cats and dogs do, right?
Tiger was an outdoors cat, and spent most the first winter learning how to take care of himself and protecting his territory.
By spring, Tiger was a huge cat, all muscles and weighed about 20 pounds. The neighbor with that dog came by and showed future-hubby the damage Tiger did to his dog. Future-hubby told him it's a very good reason to keep his dog tied up in the backyard. Tigers territory was his yard.
My thought is no one ever wants to admit their dog got attacked and beaten by a mere cat. lol
