Honestly, Ive had the problem before of being drawn to something over and over. I think it really determines on each person whether or not they have a spouse or a full blown family. Living in this world its so hard to really keep a balance with everything and I have realized that a lot of things are addicting and we don't even realize they are. I see so many people plaster faced in facebook and it makes me sad. I see people do a play by play of what they are doing and showing pics and I ask myself, why? Do they need confirmation? Are they enjoying the moment or so worried about "sharing" their moment?

I know this guy who I know is addicted to social media and he had his girlfriend who travelled over 1000 miles to see him and she had to tell him, can you please get off your phone while im here. Its quite sad really what we do these days. I worked at a school where we took the kids game boy thingy away and told him to go play with the kids and he stood there, not talking to anyone and didn't know what to do. I was right in that generation where when I was 15 there were AOL chat rooms (met my ex husband off it), but I lived a life playing outside but also had it in the home, (dial up) when it was time to come in, so I have lived both.

Ive just seen so many people not know how to interact with people because of the technology and I ask myself is that was truly God wanted with us? Am I wrong, the bible does say, for us to GO OUT and share the Word of God!!! So many people get so .......my word.....TRAPPED because being behind a computer is comfortable....its protection.....its SAFE!!!

I just really want everyone to maybe pick a week if they can, and just go without any form of social media and just see what you learn and feel and see. Maybe instead of signing on, read a chapter in the Bible.....take a walk outside.....go take some pictures......go dance......take your man and woman on a date.....go to a bible study.....go to dinner with friends.....rent a movie and get some popcorn and cuddle up and watch it. I think most people will find it harder than you think. I also think you might enjoy it, but if in the back of your mind your thinking about the sites......I would see it possibly as a mini red flag.

we're just nuts, Rachel, but we love and enjoy each other, as we also love you. :)

Rachel by your judgment it seems a few posts per week is proper amount (I've looked at your profile not to snoop but to see how much is too much to you). I'm sorry that you're so bothered that others dont post less. I probably post much for some people, but these people dont live my life. I've been off any social type of sites for several years before I joined CC a few months ago. Right now I need fellowship with other believers and it helps me through my current situation. This is a very judgmental OP, although maybe not intended to be that way. People have situations etc.

One of my first classes at university we had an assignment where we had to go without any type of digital device for 24 hours. It was absolutely no problem as the campus was right by the ocean and had a beautiful scenery downtown and on the island. I could go without a week had I wanted to. Alas, I had to write a paper on my experience, so I had to settle for the 24 hours.

The problem is, some, if not most, of the people you are talking to have done this for years. We are OLD, and we have "been there," "done that" and "got the T-shirt." :) It's not like we are wasting our lives here on CC. Being involved in Christian love and fellowship is never a waste of time.

Now, as for witnessing.......do that......as for being involved in my home church......do that....the cuddle up part is kinda hard unless I cuddle with myself........so........I read my Bible every day..........and you know what? The whole time I am signed on here at CC, I have a separate screen open to the King James Bible which I will read between comments here. I also reference it when Scriptures are quoted here..........shoot, I read more Scripture here than when I am not here. But I still read my Bible every day. Many of the things you are speaking of are wonderful activities for the YOUNG. Not so much for the elderly. As one who suffers from severe arthritic pain in my ankles, knees and hips..........going out for long romantic walks or such is pretty much torture.......Rent a movie? Have you seen what passes for movies these days? Yes, there are a few that are ok, but in my opinion 90 percent of what Hollywood puts out these days isn't worth watching.

I wonder if you are projecting here..........not trying to hurt your feelings, just wondering........There's an old saying..."Walk a mile in my shoes........" Then mayhaps you would better understand we here who CHOOSE to enjoy the fellowship here.

God bless.............and SIEZE THE DAY! as they say.........

You guys are all great. I always tend to care and worry over the silliest things. Ive had cancer before and it really changes your life. I know with me personally I feel more free standing on top of a mountain, looking at Gods beauty, but hey that's me....that's what tickles my fancy.

I want to travel and I want to jump out of a plane....hopefully this year and yes I will have a chute on :) I want to go on road trips, I want to get married and have babies!!! I want to lead others to the Lord and go see all the wonders of what God has made......

In my personal life, a lot of my friends don't have these desires or these drives and it saddens me......I pray for God to put people in my life who have the same desires. I do wonder sometimes what this world is coming too and what really is in peoples hearts. Life is so precious and too short! :)

Nah, I don't believe you are old......your just at a different age to do different things, but your not too old to do anything! I think with me personally I will ALWAYS have a young soul. I will be that hip grandpa boogying with her great granddaughter. I will be that old grandma that wants to get frisky with her husband....lol. They might be young kind of things and you might be single, but that's okay!! Im single and I will cuddle up with my doggie :) I agree with the movies.....There are the 1 out of the 50 that is good tho :)

Now, see, that makes perfect sense! And God bless and keep you! Someone once told me, don't remember who, that we are never more alive than when we are faced with the reality of our mortality. Meaning, a close encounter with death can make one awaken to the joy of life. As if every single nerve ending is on fire to LIVE!

I know this feeling from days long ago.............

Huh?

I'm on CC while I'm at work/working.
You don't think I'd use MY free time to get on here, do you? :p

Kidding.

Sometimes I pop out mid-shower, dry off.... run to my computer to check CC, ....if it tells me no new 'notifications',
....I then go and finish my shower.
Do you think I might have a CC addiction problem?
haha that's hilarious! You really have a problem you know that..now that I said that I can return back to bed and reset my alarm for another 2 hours...

you really are a darling. ♥

if i could climb a mountain, i would not do it. (unless there's a guardrail?)
i really think a lot of it comes down to the relationship between 'free time' and time spent here.
i'm elderly, don't work (for pay), and consequently have quite a bit of free time. :)

but you're right...social media has, for many people, replaced face to face communication.
the kids were all here Sunday and we were talking about
how their generation don't talk...they text. :(
to someone my age...it's weird.

thanks for worrying about us, sweetheart!

When you start dreaming of CC then you have a problem.
From your power of suggestion Blond now wonders how many people will dream tonight about CC????
