Here's an easy one....

"well, this place is just a geographical oddity. It's two weeks from anywhere!"

No... it's a more recent movie. It IS, however, loosely based on a classic story... most people would call the story an "epic" kind of tale.

The main Union general in the Civil War is named after the hero of the epic story...

Ulysses? I didn't know they made a movie about The Odyssey, I just figured it out from your clue about Grant.

my Uncle Ralph married Irene Grant. my Texas cousins are his great-grand nieces and nephews.

not sure it's something to brag about, though. personally, i'd rather be related to Robert E. Lee.

Double Indemnity, right?

Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck. yep. :)
Yes! Great movie. Everything was top notch. I love good writing. I think I'll watch it today, actually. I think MacMurray was incredibly attractive. :) It probably helps that he was such a good man in real life.

i might catch a little My Three Sons on youtube. :)

Stanwyck was known for dramas, but i liked her in Ball of Fire and Christmas in Connecticut, too.

That's cool, though- to be even distantly related to anyone famous. Grant was not a great president, but he WAS a very good general.

She was funny in The Lady Eve, with Gary Cooper. Cooper is an uptight Encyclopedia article writer, and Stanwyck brings some spice into his life. As you can tell, I like old movies. :)
