I think you might be on to something..... perhaps that should be my "old-age-crazy" action. One last crazy thing before shuffling off this mortal coil...

At least I'd go out STYLIN'.... now.... what size loop... a small, conservative, discreet one, or a much larger, gaudy, attention-grabbing one?

And once I finalize all my plans, I'll have to run it by my wife.... I imagine that after laughing hysterically for 10-15 minutes, she'd just say "no".
Easy way of getting Wife to consent, (unless she's smart enough not to believe there are only three choices.) Let her know you're thinking of bungee jumping in Australia, buying the biggest Hog available (Harley, not pig), or getting an earring. And then ask her sweetly, "Which one, honey?"

Worse comes to worst, she'll just laugh longer before saying no.

Genesis 35:4 - where Jacob's household, when told to get rid of their foreign gods, got rid of the rings that were in their ears as well without being asked to do so. This is rather interesting; it would seem to indicate that their particular earrings had some association with the foreign gods which Jacob did not want his brother Esau to see.Exodus 21:6 - where the ear of a bondslave is pierced to indicate that he belongs to his master for the rest of his life.
Exodus 32:2-3 - where Aaron used the gold earrings from both men and women to melt down into gold to make the golden calf idols.
Exodus 35:22 - golden earrings were donated for the tabernacle;
Numbers 31:50 - the spoils of the Midianites offered to the Lord included earrings;
Judges 8:24 - where Gideon asked his men to give him the golden earrings of those they had plundered. Gideon then made a ephod with the gold, which became a focus of idolatrous worship.
Isaiah 3:18-32 - where on the day of the Lord's judgment on Israel all their fine clothing and jewellery would be snatched away, including earrings and nose rings.
Ezekiel 16:12 - the Lord, using the image of a beautiful young girl to symbolize Israel, says that he put a ring on her nose and earrings in her ears;
Hosea 2:13 - where Israel is likened to an adulterous wife who put on rings and jewellery to go out to meet her lovers - the word translated 'rings' can mean either a nose ring or an earring.

It was just something I always wanted. Can't really say why! More a personal thing! Can you tell from the photo?

Ive never even thought of it as a big deal for guys to have ear piercings, I always thought it was completely normal.

I dont see any problems with it, as long as they dont become all vain or anything : p

i think it's cultural (not that believers ought to be of the world). in my generation, it wasn't a thing most men did.
different for you. when my son (28) got pierced it was shocking! i didn't like it, but i still like him. :)
he rarely wears an earring now, and never professionally.

can't tell from the pic, which means you must have been somewhat circumspect. lol

I think that any jewelry on a man is ostentatious except maybe a watch and tie clip if you happen to be a businessman that makes lots of money or a bail bondsman because it's part of their business attire.

Ostentatious - characterized by or given to pretentious or conspicuous show in an attempt to impress others.

I'd answer that, but I can't without sounding kind of perverted for an old lady. (I like hubby's ears no matter which way he chooses. :eek:)

In junior high, a boy got ear pierced. He was teased, made fun of, bullied, and the talk of the school. Not good.
That was in the late 70's.
Miss those days. The place was Orange County California (Conservative part of Cal at the time.)

In some cultures, earring is token of strength for men.

Compared to where and when I grew up, men today are less, less, less masculine (that's becoming a bad word).

The US military doesn't allow males soldiers to wear earrings while in uniform. Well, that's the way it was. Who knows.

The earrings I've seen worn by men are of two extremes: the one, a tiny diamond or something of that sort, looks dainty. The other, those huge loops, looks gross. Ugly.

If you're thinking about getting an earring, on the fence, just remember it will always call attention to itself by many folks. Some will wonder about your sexual preference. That' just how it is. Either way, I am polite and kind to people.
