Feel like I'm being tested

I'm in my last year of grad school and I seriously feel like I am being tested. Not just with coursework, but I'm having a lot of issues with my upstairs neighbor and the landlord's unwillingness to handle things. My neighbor stomps around her apartment at late hours, often preventing me from getting sleep; last Saturday, the noise was so bad I didn't get to sleep until 7:30 am. This has been going on for 2 months. Whenever I report the noise, the tenant lies to the landlords by saying that she was asleep the whole time, and they blindly believe her. At one point, they even got annoyed with me because I spoke to her directly to get her to stop. I even noticed that the landlords even lied to me twice about the source of the noise, claiming that even though she lived directly above me, that it wasn't her creating it.

This ordeal is very frustrating. There have been too many times I couldn't focus on my schoolwork because I was prevented from sleeping the night before. And it certainly doesn't feel good to be deceived.

I feel not only physically and mentally drained by all of this, but I feel very discouraged that this will continue. A lot of times I wonder what God is up to when this is happening. Why are there so many distractions coming at me, especially this noise? Why do people respond to my need for help by lying to me? How do I deal with the discouragement and disappointment? Right now I am looking for a new place to live, but I want to know how to cope in the meantime.

Well, I am still very young and have much to learn but one thing I remember my pastor saying once was that if we are doing nothing to further the kingdom of God the enemy/devil has no reason to mess with you. It is only when you are serving The Lord that the devil attacks because he doesn't want you to succeed. With that in mind find assurance that even though times are tough if you're His will then everything will work out. Hope you find this encouraging.

I had neighbors from hell once too and finally had enough and moved to a quieter location. It is a shame that people have to be so inconsiderate and then have to lie about it.

When I had issues with the neighbors I went over to them and tried to talk to them ad they got really nasty.. So then I played like 2hrs of Cotton eye joe on full blast. After that Ive never had problems again

I would start keeping a log of dates and times - what you did what she did and what the landlord did about the situation or didn't do. Get yourself a pair of ear plugs and a really sensitive microphone and record the sounds coming from that apartment and avoid the landlord and take it right to the police. I am not sure if you have a gov't agency that you can report these things too like here in Canada we have the Landlord and Tenant Commission in order to help you save your sanity as well as keep yourself from getting physically sick any further because of the rudeness of those ppl.

Thanks everyone. I tried all of what each of you suggested and as it turns out, the building has no soundproofing between the floors. This is interesting since other buildings in the complex DO have it. After reviewing my rental agreement, which allows me to terminate it under circumstances of "hardship", I have decided to find another place off campus if they are not able to move me. I can't continue being startled out of my sleep at 4 am because of what is going on upstairs. The noise was worse than ever early this morning - like a war zone.

I've already gotten emails from potential roommates, so I'm praying this works out.

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal. Bc we don't fight flesh and blood. You've got to take control in the spirit realm. They know how to push your buttons. Jesus is a powerful name, I use it in conjunction with renewing my mind.. I hated all things people. Anything drove me up a wall or bothered me and I ended up with no rest bc in God I had none of my old outlets, I had to learn to rest in Him before I could rest.. Jesus is finished work.. He triumphed, so they have no choice but to bow when you stand your ground in that victory..

Moving works too.. if it's a test, it will only follow you.
