Have you thought about the lyrics to Respect? "I'm about to give you, all my money- and all I'm asking from you honey is to give me respect when I get home."

Sounds like she is taking care of a man child. Unless he is unable to work, of course.
Well, I'm the "banker" in our marriage. Paying bills and filling out tax forms tends to get him sweaty. (I think he fears we lose the house or get put in jail, if he booboos.) And, since I keep watch on how much money we have to live on for the month, he also checks with me if he can buy something over $50. Not because I'll say no, if I don't want him to buy it, but because it's always good to have enough money in the account when he wants to buy it. So, our home is sort of the reverse of her home.

I do respect him though.

I always thought it was a song about a guy who would go out and get drunk every night. (Works, but gives nothing of himself to her.)

I think this is more of an antifeminist song, myself.
You do know women weren't supposed to be able to grease cars, shouldn't be going out until 4 AM, or making money -- particularly by gambling -- back then, right? lol

It makes me think of a guy staying at home playing video games while the woman works, Lol. But I know there are cases where the husband can not work or is a stay at home Dad. She shouldn't have to ask him to respect her. He should already do it!

I know you and your husband have a good relationship, from your posts. I think you are both blessed to have each other.

I guess I was going more by her keeping the house clean and cooking, and stretching the dollar- I thought that was what she meant rather than gambling.

It's about Vikings undergoing a cycle of death and rebirth in honor of Freya in her hold of Folkvangr.
