The NIV and NRSV/RSV are the most historically accurate, taking into account every new finding over the years. Apart from these, translation is really up to you.
Being Methodist, I'd also like to let you know about "The Wesley Study Bible'. This is an NRSV with notes over all the scriptures referring to the Wesleyan tradition and understanding at the bottom.
In any case, there are many fine Bibles our there, and I'll give you some links to a few.
