I am stuck off my broken ankle for at least another 5 weeks. Anyone read anything good lately that they would recommend?

I take a long time to read, so I kind of end up reading stuff that has been out for a while. The Hunger Games trilogy is always good. If you want some good Christian fiction, then anything by Ted Dekker is good, his new series The Book of Mortals is pretty interesting. Eric Wilson is also good.

Just kind of depends on what you like really. I like to go on Amazon and read the synopsis on some of the newer stuff to see if anything grabs my attention, you could try that too.

Yeah, hopefully some others will respond to the thread with some suggestions. I'm always looking for suggestions myself. A book I just thought of that was pretty good is "The Adoration of Jenna Fox".

Outlires by Malcolm Gladwell. Very nice book on how nothing is self-made and no one is self taught ect...

Tipping point by Malcolm Gladwell is my next book I will read, I just like his view on life, very uplifting and witty.

Though not read "lately", Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan is topical.

I'm currently reading Jesus: Among Other Gods - The Absolute Claims of the Christian Message, by Ravi Zacharias. Brilliant Christian apologist.

I literally just search "free books top 100" and see what happens, or free (insert genre) books. they change all the time.
Plugging in "free" into any search query is not advisable; shady people like to [ab]use that word to attract you and up their page rank, only to give you a "free" virus or spyware/adware. Be careful about the key word phrases you use.

I think Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis is a blast. It is letters from a Senior to a Junior Devel with instructions to keep a new Christian from church.

Quire a few authors are writing books about women of the bible, and most are good. The Red Ten by Diamant, as you can see by my name, is wonderful, I'll always remember it. Lynn Austin did a series on some of the Kings of the bible. Both these authors did accurate research of the times, so besides being good reads for fun they were learning experiences.

I found Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett so enjoyable I felt bad to finish it. I lent it to a friend who said the 10th century (I think it was) times were so brutal she gave the book back to me in disgust. The research and accuracy of the times is very good, and it gives an understanding of how those huge cathederals in Europe came about. Womderful characters.

If no one has ever read Frankenstein by Shelley, I strongly recommend that book. No movie on earth depicts it the way she wrote it.

ANYTHING by Will Durant. The entire 11 Volumes of the Story of Civilization told through Ariel and Will's eyes. So is the story of their romance. She skated to the wedding on roller skates, he had graduated from college.
